Try not let your soldiers know you condone drinking and driving, in todays enviorment, deployments and rotations to Iraq, Afganistan, there's enough dangers facing our troops beside condoning drinking and driving.
Poor decisons like that will keep you from Field Grade..
I don't know if your kidding or not, but I couldn't let this pass.
I've had soldiers injured and killed, and it's not something to joke about, and make stupid statements.
I have absolutely no problems with people who drink and drive, until the point that they get in a wreck and injure others. At that point, I am all for sending them away.
However, to outlaw an activity simply because in a very minute amount of cases it might lead to harm is a farce.
What WILL end up happening to these guys, and you all know it, is ONE of them will get a stiff punishment (take a WILD guess) and the other two will get a game. I agree that it may be unfair for these guys to be 'thrown under the bus' for doing something I did in college (minus the cops being called) numerous times. Where I draw a huge line in the sand however is this: these guys PUBLICLY represent UT every day (esp. saturday) on the field and are getting a huge scholarship to display their God given abilities for this university. The bad part for all of us is that a lot of incidents have UT looking like we are without discipline. Fulmer has to set examples from here on out. Yes, they're young, I'm not saying kick them off in this case- but make it to where they won't EVER want to get their name in the paper again for anything other than stats.
i think wardlow may get the least of it honestly, he was picked up for public intoxication, which was the least of the three. the other two will face the same punishment.
they were arrested for disorderly conduct, underage drinking, and public intoxication
Foster and Holbert were charged with disorderly conduct and underage alcohol consumption. Wardlow faces those same two charges along with a public intoxication charge.
Fulmer said there wasn't a curfew after games, but that the Vols do have one during the week that begins on Wednesday at 11 p.m.
Sergeant Tony Willis said Foster seen shoving somebody. Foster was then arrested, according to Willis. Foster told coaches that he was trying to shove teammates away from each other to keep the fight from escalating. Right after Foster was arrested, Willis said another altercation broke out involving Holbert and Wardlow, and they too were arrested.
Totally agree 100%IMO the individials who were caught drinking and were under age should be punished however I do not believe that Fulmer should throw the book at the them. A one game suspension is sufficient as well as wind sprints till they vomit. To my knowledge, none of them have been in trouble before. I feel that some on this board are overreacting.
