What should CPF do with Foster, Wardlow and Holbert?

What should be the punishment?

Fulmer should suspend them until he finds out all of the details. They may have been underage and may have been drunk, but that isn't anything that 90% of other students do after a football game. If it was just being drunk/underage, suspend them for a game, if they were the ones involved in the fight suspend them for the rest of the season.

It does not matter whether they broke any laws or we agree on how or when someone should be allowed to drink.

The point is they have their school paid for and represent the institution and are expected to hold themselves to a higher standard.

Whoever it was that said they shared their first beer with their dad when they were 8...I so look forward to teaching my child those things in 4 years. They will never learn that stuff from me, or even see me do it. Which is rare to begin with.

Drinking Laws. They are what they are. By that logic, it should then be OK to commit armed robbery so long as you don't pull the trigger or hurt someone. We should all be able to steal and commit any crime we want to as long as no one is endangered because it is our civil liberty to have anything we want by any means possible, even if it means breaking all these ludicrous laws our government imposes for the general safety and well being of the general public.

As for punishment in this case. The civil laws of Knox County need apply, and that punishment set forth. If such civil punishment is handed down that interferes with team games/practices/activities that should be served first before team activities resume.

The rules of the team should be enforced in like manner, each punishment according to which, if any, rule was violated. A minimum of one half the Arkansas game accross the board for having embarrassed the University, plus any additional punishment deemed appropriate by the coaches/university according to the facts and circumstances.

Lastly, since underage drinking is illegal, whether you agree or not, why then is the bar not cited for serving alcohol to minors. If the players, or "normal" college kids alike can be arrested for underage drinking, then the same laws being broken by the bars that contribute to the delinquency of a minor should summarily be enforced.

But since it is against the law, there should be a problem with it.

We aren't in Germany.
I hate guys hurting the team with negative pub...I thought we were past that crap. I think that it sounds like they were doing a little more than quitely minding their own business, discussing Fosters inabilty to hit a hole , but if you are old enough to get blown up in Fallujah you should be old enough to drink.
Did someone remove our beer cheer icon?

The bar in question was???? or should have been cited for the underage consumption. It is a hefty fine and the establishment could lose their beer and or liquor license.

but if you are old enough to get blown up in Fallujah you should be old enough to drink.

Please don't compare our football players to the folks in Iraq. I've heard the, "If I'm old enough to die for my country, then I'm old enough to drink for my country" line before. And you better believe people in the service get in trouble all the time for underage drinking. That being said, they weren't just drinking. They were arrested, kinda like speeding isn't against the law unless your caught, drinking underage isn't a big deal unless you are in a bar fight or perhaps piloting an aircraft. These football players act like they are above the law, guess what folks this isn't Varsity Blues. The young RB can't just get all boozed up and start a fight without expecting consequences.

This week the team should be focused on beating Arkansas but instead CPF has to worry about 3 knuckleheads.

Sorry for the rant

70 people involved in bar incident at which 3 Vols were arrested

The three Tennessee football players arrested early Sunday morning were involved in a fight that involved as many as 70 people at GoodFellas nightclub, according to a report made by Knoxville Police Department officers.

Starting tailback Arian Foster, reserve **** David Holbert and reserve safety Antonio Wardlow were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and underage consumption after police responded to a report of "a fight involving seventy people" around 3 a.m. Sunday.

UT coach Phillip Fulmer is expected to announce any disciplinary action later today.

"Until I see all the parties involved, I’m not going to comment any further, except to say that I’ll deal with it swiftly and firmly and fairly," Fulmer said Sunday evening.

A police report released Monday morning stated that Foster, 20, was pushing, yelling and cursing another male. Foster told police he had been drinking before entering the club.

Police said Holbert attempted to fight by shoving, yelling and throwing punches.

Wardlow was also charged with underage consumption.

According to the report, Wardlow "squared off with another male and began to throw punches."

The police report did not say where he received and consumed alcohol.

All three players are 20 years old and were booked into the Knox County Detention Center.

They were released later on $500 bond.

Foster, a sophomore, has started five games at tailback this season and rushed for 262 yards.

Holbert has played in all nine of Tennessee’s games.

Wardlow has also played in all nine games. He started last week against South Carolina in place of Demetrice Morley, who was suspended for the first half for academics.

All three played against LSU.

Foster, the Vols’ second leading rusher behind redshirt freshman LaMarcus Coker, led Tennessee with 44 yards on 10 carries.

The three arrests make seven UT players who have been arrested since May.

Is there any way to find out how many people, total, were arrested? Just 3 football players? If so, it sounds kinda fishy unless they just kicked a$$ and were the only 3 left standing.

The police report states that there were punches thrown and yet, there are no assault charges?

The outrage should be at these guys throwing punches, not over them drinking, and yet, the charges do not even imply of assault.

Definitely something fishy here.

IMO, if we are serious about "character development", then these yahoos who have given us a black eye once again, need to pay for two reasons: to teach them that stupid choices have less than desireable consequences, and two, to teach the other teammates the same thing. The consequences have to be harsher than what they did, otherwise they will play the law of averages every time and we will have more of the same.

Awesome.

Can some one do some number crunching, and tell me the difference in arrest ratio between our team and the general population?

According to the 2006 Media Guide

Team members 129
Recent arrests 7 (5.4%)

According to the Knoxville Police Department's 2005 Annual Report,

2004 Population Estimate 178,118
Total Arrests 12,629 (7.1%)

Whoever was hit with a punch has to file "assault" charges. Most likely they were thrown on both sides.

FROM ESPN.COM
Starting tailback Arian Foster will be suspended for the first half of Saturday's game against Arkansas, fullback David Holbert will be suspended for the entire Arkansas game, and safety Antonio Wardlow will be suspended for the Arkansas game and the Nov. 18 game against Vanderbilt. All three players also face internal discipline.........

I stand corrected. I thought Foster would receive the most severe punishmnent. REACTIONS?

They are saying foster was the peace maker between the other two players and far as the bar goes its off linits to football players now

Tenn needs to play Miami in Bowl game

Could be a great half time show-->UFC style

:bash: :vava: :boxing2:

:lolabove:

As far as the punishment goes, it seems about right. I think the perception that some people have is that Foster got the least punishment because he is the most important to the team vs. Arkansas, but it sounds like he was charged the least. Some accounts say that he was even trying to be a peacemaker between the other two players.
