What the hell is going on??!

Yep, the wheels have certainly come off.

Every year, you have certain positions that you put more of an emphasis on than others based on need. Therefore, you have to recruit those positions, and you limit yourselves. When you can only take 20 as opposed to 27, then it limits the overall pool from which to recruit. If we could take more this year, then we would be looking at more four star players at other positions (but RB, DE, and even LB are not positions of need this year). You are crazy if you think having a lower number of scholarships doesn't effect the overall ranking. The greater scholarships you can offer, the better chance of having a good class. Kind of like the more shots I get in a basketball game, the greater chance I have of scoring more points.

I don't care how you slice it, we are recruiting for needs, and this class was not going to better than the last 2. In addition, our staff is very good at evaluating talent, and I am very confident in abilities of who they get signed.

UT signed 32 in 2014 and was ranked 7th. TAMU signed 22 and was ranked 5th.

In 2015, FSU signed only 20 and ranked 3rd. UT signed 30 and was ranked 4th. Bama only signed 24 and ranked 1st.

The quality matters a lot more than the quantity.

Well, of course, quality matters. Two of your examples are schools with many elite athletes within 100 miles from their school, and the other has been a recruiting juggernaut for years. The fact, however, is that if had the chance to choose 27 power ball numbers or 20 powerball numbers, I hope everyone knows which one to pick. Numbers have influence on a class. Plus, we aren't even finished yet.

Since 2002, according to Rivals, when UT has taken 21 or less in a class, their best class was ranked #10. Now, I know the cap of 25 only came into play a couple of years ago, but you still had to follow 85 and be careful with guys who might qualify along with still being allowed to backcount.

So, when UT has had a top 5 class, these were the numbers:
2002- #2, 25 signees
2005- #4, 27
2007- #3, 32
2009- #10, 21
2010- #9, 25
2014- #5, 31
2015- #5, 29

Coincidence? I guess that is for you decide. But history shows that at UT, bigger classes are the ones that are more highly ranked.

So was Vonn Bell, and so was Lamar Dawson, and so was Dalton Santos...

We move on and recover.

Yep. But these kids are not setting the world on fire. So what did we really lose?? Everything will come out in the wash. we will sign our guys and we will have Spring practice and Summer work outs. This Fall we will field a SEC EAST championship team and who knows what will happen then. Our coaching staff is better than it has been in over ten years and the talent is the best it has been over the same period of time. Lets take a little rest and see what comes to past on the first Wednesday of February and see how Winter workout do. I can hardly wait and hate to see people get their attitudes bent out of shape for no reason. Be happy and enjoy the ride.

I know we aren't selling immediate playing time anymore, but we have a rising program, unmatched facilities & the hottest DC coordinator higher this offseason. What's the deal?

We have a QB committed that has an absolute cannon for an arm and can run as well. I'm happy with the guys that are committed right now. Coach Jones knows what he is doing.

And those rankings have meant what to actual production?

Most of the real experts on this board know CBJ is the man, he knows how to recruit better than most, if not all other coaches in the country. Due to his recruiting and top quality coaching we should be on track to win, at a minimum, the SEC THIS YEAR. Great players, from all over the US, are clamoring to come to UT and play for CBJ. As many have pointed out, just relax, CBJ has everything under complete control-he's doing it Brick by Brick.

Some of you guys don't seem to understand there isn't a big time legacy guy/ instate commit in this class committed and swaying guys to our class like the previous years. Vic, Hurd, TKjr, Kmac, Kyle Phillips, Drew Richmond, Josh Malone, Derek Barnett, Dillon Bates, Rashaan Gaulden.

Only one we got is Warrior and he is considering Bama and UGA.

Winning has helped us but until we're competing for SECCG we aren't going to recruit like Bama.

We have had a tempestuous couple of months regarding our commits de-committing. Slaps to the face after slaps to the face, nothing but terrible news! I know this chit happens in the recruiting world, especially in January, but this is VERY odd. We've lost some solid recruits and it hurts. Kongbo is the latest debacle. Why? Is Butch telling these kids to go elsewhere? They just all change their mind? Aces up staff's sleeves?

I guess what I am wondering is what gives here? Why the huge slide in recruiting? It really has become alarming and disheartening.

Pull yourself together man. Your letting your little dooley run your brain!
