What they are saying on the Gamecocks forum

The Spurrier comment is ripe. The Ol' Ball Coach quit on their program in the middle of they year because he didn't want to take another loss to the Vols. What does it say about that program when the most successful coach in their history just quit and walked away in the middle of the season.

This is me too. South Carolina at night has been not great for us over the past few years, however their team is not good and we blasted them last year at home. I'm going to keep telling myself this during the game Saturday.
Wasn't there a game (Lyle era) where we came back from a three score deficit in the last four minutes? I hope it doesn't come to that, but, it was pretty glorious!

Its actually a good game to work on our crowd noise skills, they will be loud for a while anyway and we didnt look like we handled noise well against Georgia so I hope they use this game to work on some of those problems while having the benefit of playing a lesser opponent.

This is the only game this season where noise should be an issue. Half of a crowd aint that loud

Well...it may be loud in Nashville but it will be for the good 👦

Yep it was Josh Dobbs in 2015 I think? Anyway it was when South Carolina was on the tail end of being good under Spurrier.

Well with attitudes like these, at least we won't have to hear them on this board crowing like they are going to win or anything. They know their place.

Way behind us.

Agreed. Some of the Fighting Gamecocks Forum comments run to predicting a 70-0 Vols win and their fans wearing their aluminum bleacher shirts before halftime.

Rocky Top sounds great when it echoes off of those empty bleachers. Been there, done that.

I disagree. Old guys who can't hold their water and want to change coaches every five minutes is a bigger problem. Beamer may fail, or may not, no way to know without giving him a chance.
Looks like its working out well for Tenn
I hope this guy wins the argument. Making the right hire is critical. But giving a coach "time"... seldom works. UT gave Jones "time" when all the warning signs were already there in full view. "Impatience" is how UT got from Fulmer to Kiffin to Dooley to Jones to Pruitt to... Heupel. Nothing wrong with the impatience... you just have to start with the AD to make sure you make competent hires.

I don't know a thing about USCe's AD. Might be great. But I wasn't impressed with the Beamer hire at all. The parallels to Dooley are pretty remarkable except he had NEVER been a HC... not at an FBS school, not at a G-5 school, apparently not even a High School... nowhere. He had never been a Coordinator. I just don't know how a process produced him as their best choice.

Deleted due to misfire. 😂

It is hard to hate the Gamecocks. I don't see their fans really talking trash like other teams. It was kind of fun when they had Spurrier because we hated Spurrier but the matchup is a meh one every year.

South Carolina has enough players to scare teams if that team just doesn't show up but they really don't have the players to beat us most years.

They seem to be destined to be a perennial 6-6 or 7-5 type team.

It is seeming like more and more, the team to hate for us is Georgia.
It’s not that hard for me to hate any SEC team that isn’t Tennessee

I get that but their fans don't see to be dbags like some other teams (notably Georgia and Auburn).

Hell, you don't see the same stupidity from them that you saw going into the Kentucky game from Kentucky fans.

It’s the one that broke Spurrier.

Yep. I lost respect for him that day. In his post game press conference, he gave about 15 seconds of a statement, took no questions, and walked out. The Ole Ball Coach could yuck it up with the best of them when he won but couldn't stand there and answer questions when he lost. It was not a great lesson for young people.
