What they are saying on the Gamecocks forum

Catchy song. But I always get hung up on the Cumberland Gap-Johnson City direction line.

I think they must be singing it wrong.

Wouldn’t it work if it was:

He’s a-headed west to the Cumberland Gap
From Johnson City, Tennessee?

Instead of:

He’s a-headed west through the Cumberland Gap
To Johnson City, Tennessee?

Still an objectively great song, best performed by Old Crow. Still enjoy Hootie’s work.

I just assume it was artistic license. It’s not nearly as romantic heading East as it is heading west 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

They both played Fun Fest in Kingsport in 2021. It was a Wagon Wheel showdown.

Poor ole Ketch got it wrong. Agree Old Crow version is better

Wagon Wheel (song) - Wikipedia
As Secor explains, "I got some geography wrong, but I still sing it that way. I just wanted the word 'west' in there. 'West' has got more power than 'east.'"

Power is in the East this year!

I really didn't think JH had a killer instinct with a commanding lead, but he has proven me wrong

I really don't think he has, until last Sat. I like the killer instinct. I hate when all coaches put their second string in and don't let them run the regular offense. This is the best time to get in game experience by letting them play like it is a very close game, and run your regular offense.

As long as we get out to a decent start, it'll be over quickly. We score 14 in the first quarter, their crowd will be silent and the game will be over.
This is the key! Get 7 and a stop, then add 3 or 7 more and they're done.

Game time change comments:

We can hope UT won't show up on time

Game will be over after 3 minutes.

Beamer is USC’s version of Derek Dooley, the Tennessee coach from 2010-2012. Son of a famous coach, a 5-7 or 6-6 coach, and essentially “nothing special”. The difference is that Tennessee got rid of Dooley after 3 mediocre years…and we celebrate mediocre with a mediocre bowl as some form of achievement. Waiting for the contract extension from the BOT for Shane.

Hard to believe this was Spurrier describing UT while he was winning 11 games here, “In Knoxville, they’re still doing cartwheels because they went 7-6 and won a bowl.”
I disagree. Old guys who can't hold their water and want to change coaches every five minutes is a bigger problem. Beamer may fail, or may not, no way to know without giving him a chance.
Looks like its working out well for Tenn

Look at the 2023 schedule. There might be 3 or 4 wins on that schedule. We've regressed significantly. Tennessee is going to hang 70 on this defense and we won't cross midfield against Clemson.

Can't find anything else so far
Yep that about sums it up.

i remember a few years ago we beat Florida & UGA in the same year. All we needed to do was beat South Carolina to get to the SEC Championship. We lost so not taking this game lightly. just saying
You do that. You know, since it has a huge impact on the actual game

Darius Rucker Gets Crowd To Scream 'F*** Tennessee' During South Carolina Concert

South Carolina Gamecocks superfan Darius Rucker gave "Wagon Wheel" an R-rated upgrade during a concert this week ... getting the whole crowd to chant "f*** Tennessee" in the middle of it -- and it's incredible.

Let's call this beat down the Darius Rucker Special. F Darius

I laughed at the irony when this first made the news. Imagine alienating a group of your fans in a state that helped to resurrect your dead music career. If not for Tennessee, Hootie Rucker’s music would be relegated to the local oldies stations, a defunct genre. I wonder what the Blowfish are doing these days…

They do a charity concert every year. I migrated their old web site back in the day and subscribed to the emails to verify the newsletter kept going out, so I keep getting updates.

From their site:
The Garnet and Black faithful are loyal, and this isn't seen as an opinion but as an absolute fact not just by the fanbase but by other fanbases in the SEC.

Whether the team is riding a wave of momentum or has been through a string of porous showings, South Carolina fans garner a lot of respect for the support they show week in and week out.

They've affirmed their support for the program once again, as head coach Shane Beamer announced on Monday afternoon that the Gamecocks' final home contest against the Tennessee Volunteers would take place in front of a packed Williams-Brice Stadium.

They will need more than a sellout to stop Hook and crew!

Hollow claim since 30%+ of the tickets will have an orange fan in the seat! i guess Vandy should brag about their upcoming sell out with 80% of the stadium in orange too?

Does killer instinct work on teams that are better than you, or at least playing better? Or only when you are beating a team down and they can't fight back or stop you so you keep pounding on them? 🤔

It will look like it's in Knoxville with the amount of Tennessee fans that will be behind the set. Think Kentucky games at CLA when we were terrible.

Cola will be painted orange for the massacre

Lord NO….. The less coverage the better right now.

They must have to come ro everyone's stadium ??

SEC Nation coming is the worst idea I’ve heard since the release of New Coke.

Why is our conference embarrassing us like this?

The energy Gamecock fans take with them to Williams-Brice will be needed in every way this week, as the 5th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers, based on the college football playoff rankings, are well on their way to their best season in fifteen years.

Earlier this season, they ended a 15-game losing streak against the powerhouse Alabama Crimson Tide. They are still playing for a shot to represent the eastern division in the SEC Championship game. It will be a game where South Carolina will have to take full advantage of having the game played on their home turf.

Energy? They will be limp and lifeless after first quarter!

It would be cool to see and HEAR Vol fans at the game be vibrant Orange, more rowdy and louder than they were at Baton Rouge

Man, Cock fans must hate the color orange given us, Clem, and gators
