Well stated on poor Mike Hamilton. That was double incompetence. Being sold on the bill of goods by the recently fired Lane Kiffin and then he followed up that stupidity 11 months later by hiring Dooley. Dooley had a losing record at Louisiana Tech. Unbelievable then and now. Be grateful for the UT leadership now and do not take that for granted. Belichick is similar to Deion as all eyes are now on UNC. It will be interesting to see. I thought Brady carried Belichick and now we will find out. I bet Mack is leaving behind a decent talent base as he always has.

Do you? I thought NIL happened and change things. Look at deion Sanders at Colorado. You much easier to recruit to North Carolina, in my opinion. He may siphon off some of our recruits potentially.... If we did the same thing, there would be celebratory gunfire on Volnation.
I would not be surprised either way. In the age of NIL, you have to think outside the box. I don't know if they have a Haslam or Phil Knight though, anybody know who cuts the checks at North Carolina as far as boosters?

I would not doubt that Saban will get involved in some way with Belichick. They are best friends, and I bet they both want to have one last chance to work together, just for the hell of it . The ACC just got a wake up call.

Yes. According to most of the recruiting staff on the pay boards like Vols247, etc., often times the money being offered to a recruit is comparable among different schools and the recruit's decision is made based on traditional factors, it's not always the highest bidder.

Brady handled the Offense, but it was Bill that produced the great defenses. Brady over Peyton simple because of Bellichick's Defense. Indy wasn't even close defensively.

We've been raiding NC hard in the CJH era. UNC's recruiting budget will have an impact on us for sure.

The model of a HC doing X and Os and the GM handling general recruiting is the real game changer here.

I'd expect Bill to put in a solid 2 years as HC, then step back to an advisory role while his son takes over.

Might work for a year or so until the new wears off and Belicheck pisses everybody off. And when the guarantee for the son kicks in, it’s anybody’s guess. Some successes and some failures. Shane Beamer (despite his goofy personality) is showing signs of life. Lane Kiffin (also personality issues) has been fairly successful. On the other side of the coin, Derek Dooley, Mike Shula and Skip Holtz say hello. Guess we’ll have to see what happens but glad it ain’t happening in Knoxville.

I gotta be honest, he is going to succeed. At what level I don’t know but man this guy is a football God. Call me naive but that’s just my thoughts.

If I remember correctly, Coach Belichick was gainfully employed and unavailable during the time period that Dooley, Jones and Pruitt were hired.

I definitely could see some logic with the Kiffin hire. He was the "opposite" of Fulmer. Young, brash, and aggressive. He thought fanbase wanted that and it was in line with the temperature of fan base at the time. The Dooley hire is where he really messed up. We rushed a hire to save "recruiting" (not sure it did much). We should have gone interim route and then hired a serious candidate.
