The 2012 Vols were about as fundamentally unsound a football team as I have ever seen at that level of play, especially on defense and special teams.

Coaching is teaching so I don’t know what part of that teaching / learning formula broke down but it was ugly to watch.

My two nominations for ugliest play of the year are:

1. Rivera standing and watching a live kickoff hit the ground for Vandy to recover.
2. Both the corner and safety taking the same receiver on the play that allowed Missouri to make a 40+ yard TD completion in the waning seconds of the game to force OT.

What was your "ugliest paly'?:cray:

If my memory recalls the UF game T. Burton burning our entire defense. At that moment I knew thats how the season would go.

This one.... I remember this one above all others. He beat us around the corner and threw a nasty stiff arm to Teagues face and out raced us to the endzone. I was at the game, and I remember turning to my buddy next to me and saying, "If Trey Burton can burn our secondary for a 60 yard TD run around the edge, we are in for a long season." Burton is a terrific football player, but he isn't a burner by any means.

It was the Burton 80yd run. At that point in the season we were playing hard and still had a great chance to win that UF game, we'd been leading all day. But after that, Tennessee seemed to turn into a different team the rest of the year. Sickening tackle attempts and angles on that play.

This. Unfortunately, I was there.

The kickoff against Miss State where Rivera, I believe, just watched it land in front of him. SAD!

Tyler Bray being sacked by Clowney in the red zone and fumbling in the last minutes of the game.... Tiny almost had Clowney completely out of that game.

If my memory serves me, it would be the 4th & 24 that South Carolina scored on right across the middle ... just get a stop there and we win that game.
