What we are getting with Barton

I've read a few things on Barton...and being from Memphis I've had the privilege to watch him play a little here and there. At times, I thought the kid was as good if not better than Jackson at some points. He's definitely got a maturity and a steady hand to his game that's pretty essential in all point guards. I think he's a great addition and an upgrade from Golden. We've got a good one.

I turned on to 104.5 this morning and caught part of a discussion with an analyst from Blue Ribbon. I think Blue Ribbon was the name. Said he thought that he was a good pickup for the Vols. He also said that he was an upgrade over Golden. He said that Golden was soft and pretty much a liability on defense. I know this isn't anything that hasn't been posted on here but I thought that I would post it.

Remains to be seen. It could play out exactly like that, or Barton could be terrible.

True. I was just telling everyone what was said in the interview.

Don't know how Barton is compared to Maymon, but he is a good, consistent player. While he and his brother Will were playing together, many thought we got the better deal in Antonio. Although he was not as flashy as his brother or maybe wasn't a "takeover the game" type of player, IMO he was consistently good and reliable, both offensively and defensively. I was sad to see him leave the Tigers, although we are very guard-heavy at the moment and I understand him wanting more playing time.

Memphis looks to have a very talented team and should have a good yr. I expect th to get to the sweet 16 this yr at least.

Oh I know. I was just making sure you knew it was the blue ribbon guy that said it. I agree with what you said though. Go Vols

Yeah, I'm guessing he is some representative of Blue Ribbon mag. Good write ups. Lots of info in the team editions, i.e. Tennessee Volunteers Blue Ribbon.

This. I'm from North Memphis and I've seen him ball also. AB is not some scrub he's just as talented as any other PG especially if he got the playing time. In my opinion only, he's far better than Trae and has much more heart and "want to". AB would not have shut down like Trae during that Alabama game. AB will make things happen and he will get the ball to Stokes and Maymon. He's also very coachable. We are in for a treat this season. Bank on it.
