I can see where the so called "NegaVols" are coming from. I used to be the first one calling out "negavol", but I've grown to appreciate the "show me the facts (success)" mentality.

I too would have to say this year has been unsuccessful so far. Did we expect it? Yes. Is it false to say this year has been unsuccessful? No. Poor play, questionable team participation, questionable play calling on both sides of the ball at times, 9-10-11 men on the field at times, the team looking under-prepared not just less athletic, Dooley's over the top pressers, mediocre recruiting class, and I'm sure I've missed some.

With that said I don't believe this year defines Derek Dooley as a coach as some do. I don't believe he'll go down in the history books as a bad recruiter or coach based on this year's results. I have decided to delay my assessment of him as a coach until 2012. This will be our first opportunity to see a seasoned Derek Dooley squad built almost entirely of his recruits. It will also be our first evidence of this coaching staff's ability to coach players to their potential. Until that time we will just be watching patch work football. By 2013 we'll all have a better understanding of what kind of coach Derek Dooley is and the direction he has our program headed, good or bad.

Until that time arrives I think the real question is:

What will we consider an acceptable year in 2012 for Dooley to get an extension? 8 wins and a bowl win, 9 wins and a bowl win? Neither, we need to give him 1 more year? Where do we draw the line? Because after our recent past (lack of success), to me this line is blurred. But as is all too familiar on Volnation this is just one man's opinion, it's not the gospel truth.

*Please, if you see a grammar or spelling mistakes in this post, point it out ot me in a respectful manner, and I will gladly correct it for you.

9 wins and competing for the east. That will be a very talented offense and depending on the D-Line recruiting should be a good defense.

I'd say 9-3 with an appearance in a BCS bowl in 2012. Oh wait, there'll be no bowls after 12/21/2010, lol.

No, I haven't even seen one yet. It would be informational if someone could post it, if they have one handy.

anything over .500 would suite me after these miserable years we've been through. hopefully the young guys will get better and more depth will be added and we'll compete for the SEC east.

8-9 wins and a victory over Florida. 1st or second in the East.

Depends on what we have to endure the rest of the year this year and in 2011.

For all our sakes, I sure hope it ends better than it began. I think a win this weekend is the shot in the arm, both we as fans, and the players need to start feeling better about the program. GBO.

Are we giving up on 2011 and once again "wait until next year"?

I'm not giving up at all. Rooting for a victory and evaluating a coach are 2 different things. We're still in the hunt for a bowl game baby. But so far you can't say this season has been successful on many visible fronts. Does that mean I think Derek Dooley can't/won't turn it around? No it doesn't. Does that mean I think he's a bad coach? No. I'm saying I don't know what kind of a coach Derek Dooley is based on what I've seen so far. Just like everyone else, I'm watching this story unfold week by week, until I have a big enough picture to decide for myself. Some fans have seen all they need to see. I, on the other hand, require more proof than 7 games to decide one way or the other.

Just to fillin the holes, we'd have Arky and Miss State and probably two more cupcakes.

Something like:
NC State
Cupcake
Fla
Cupcake
@Miss State
@ UGA
Ala
@SCar
Troy
Arkansas
@Vandy
Kentucky

I'd like to think 9 wins would be possible, but I think realistically I'd be happy with 8 and a decent bowl. I think 2013 is there year we could really compete.

I think most people have given up for this year and next year looks to be ANOTHER just wait till next year seasons. We have had so many of those lately. Tired of waiting.

I'll be sure to let you know in two years.

8-4 would be nice and signal we are on our way back. But we have a LONG LONG way to go to get that respectable.

UGH! It has been very frustrating, so I know what you mean! I think we are all suffering from Post Traumatic Success Syndrome. Thanks Phil, thanks for the memories. lol.

he is here for 4 years like it or not. we can't keep paying coaches and then let them go. we owe fulmer at least 2 more years and dooley 3 more. fire cdd and we would be paying 3 coaches !! back to the question at hand. i think we will be in the 6 to 7 win range next season. :salute: :salute:

I would agree with that statement. Only one exception though, specail teams are not horrible. We havent had a big blocked punt or kick return for a TD, but at least they are not awful like that have been in years past. :good!:
