I doubt all 100k people in the stadium are going to give a guy a standing ovation for making our whole fanbase look like a bunch of stupid rednecks.
Its funny how "redneck" has become such a derogatory term
If people actually knew where the term come from and why, they would be damn proud to be called a "redneck"
If a fan was that stupid then they need to be put away for a long time. I hope your not talking about a Tennessee fan doing this. But Hypothetically talking I hope your not talking about Kiffin when he come back to Tennessee this year with Alabama. You would see it all over Sportscenter, talk shows, we do not need any more bad press. Hypothetically speaking.
Exactly. It might not have had all the negative connotations it has today, but it's never been a term of endearment.
I guess... if you want to be called a poor white farmer.
I would love to see Kif get his arse whooped on National TV..
If I was you I would be very careful of the 100 or so crimson jersey's that have his back on the sideline though.
See, an example of someone who has no idea of the origins of the term " redneck"
Back in West Virginia in 1920 and 1921, there was a dispute between the coal companies and the miners who worked under extremely horrible conditions. During this dispute, the coal companies called Baldwin- Felts agents to suppress the miners uprising by any means necessary. In Matewan, WV, there was a shootout between the two that started what is known as the Battle of Blair Mountain.
During this, other miners who came to support the miners in Matewan wore red bandannas around their necks, hence the term "rednecks"
"Rednecks" is not white trash.
