What year did you attend your first UT game?

Born in '81 and my first game was in '86. I don't remember who we played but I rememebr sitting in the endzone about twenty or so rows up.

The La Monroe game on Sept 23 , 2000 the tickets were my 20th birthday present from my dad and bro , we got trashed before the game and then the VOLS TRASHED THEM
70 - 3 it was the best birthday present i ever have gotten . Will not forget it and cant wait to take my 3 yr old to his first game , it may even be the Kentucky game , he loves the VOLS and says GO BIG ORANGE when he see's them on tv GO VOLS !!!

I remember that game. This was my first game to sit in the sky-boxes. Sat with Jimmy Sexton and several other folks. We could have put 100 on the board that day.

2001 Vandy game, was 13. Sat in Z10. Saw the Salute to the Hill, was amazed, but didn't understand the significance of it. Don't remember Pregame, but the T opened pretty much right in front of me, and I determined then and there that I would either open or run through the T. Then 5 years later, I was opening it. Saw Stallworth return a punt 60 yards for a score, and a little toss into the corner of the endzone right in front of me.

1993. Saw Vandy get routed to the tune of 62-14. I was a Penn State fan (being from PA originally) but had a change of heart after that game.

1998 against Florida. I worked with (Floridas), Derrick Chambers mom, and got in with a family pass. Funny part is the the way the ticket guy looked at me and my friend, who are white, dressed in UT gear, claiming to be Derricks cousins while his mom and other family members walked in before us. We sat behind the florida kickers family, who ultimately lost the game when he missed the fieldgoal. Would love to see the fans celebrate at Neyland for the Vols the way they did that night. Without tearing down the goal posts. Was a great event.

November 17,1973 against Ole Miss Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium • Jackson, MS on ABC Lost 18–28 39,500 in attendance. Tennessee went in with a 6 and 2 record and ranked #16th in the nation and lost. I was 14 years old and living in Mississippi. One of Dad's friends was on the governors staff of Miss and gave us tickets to sit in the governors box. With the special seating gave us access to the track to come and go. Walked by the Tennessee cheerleaders and fell in love .... with every one of the females.

Condredge Holloway was QB then

Haven't made it to Neyland yet, but my first vols game was us beating Kentucky in 2010 last summer on the sec website, that game sealed my fandom. I didn't know Kentucky were so bad though....

Good thread. Really interesting.

Now THIS is a fun thread....

First game for me was September 1973 vs. Auburn.

Doug Barfield was the Auburn coach, Bill Battle for UT. There were thunderstorms in the area, and one rolled into Neyland Stadium. In this era, you could have umbrellas in the stands, so I remember sitting in the student section in the south endzone and watching the umbrellas go up....and the storm stalled...at just about midfield....just for a minute or so. Battle ran Neal Clabo, the punter, out on second down and punted into a wall of water. The ball skidded off the old Tartan turf inside the 10. Auburn fumbled on about the second play and UT scored. The storm then covered the whole stadium, and UT won 21-0.

After the game, Barfield said he had heard of "home field advantage", but this was ridiculous!

Unfortunately, I thought this was they way every game would go at Neyland. Obviously not. But as a new freshman (and even as an old fan), that was one fun day!

Go Vols.

Happy Veteran's Day.....and thanks to all of our troops!

Shug did not retire at Auburn until 1975. He was still the coach.

Born in 76 but it wasn't until 97 that I saw the vols live I got snuck into the student section it was awesome I will never forget it

Sep 2005 against UAB was my first game. Eye opening experience since previously the only college football games i had been to were at Vandy and Kentucky.
