I was 10 yrs old,..i think i was overwhelmed and in awe,..the whole experience was a blurr. My dad is UT alum and i remember him showing me where he lived under the bleachers. Yep, the bleachers..haha
I was in somebody's dorm room in Stadium Hall one time. There were some dorm rooms and I think an ROTC office in the bowels of the stadium.

Best game....three way tie between ND game at South Bend ( went down on the field after and did the TN waltz with my hubby as the POTS band played...still have the wad of that field I brought home). 2nd would be the Sugar Bowl vs. Miami in 86 for the 85 season. Third would be the 82 Bama game. I was supposed to go to the World's Fair but swapped tickets for the football game....I was in 8th grade.

Oh gosh that had to have been in the early 60's when we came down for the Dogwood Arts Festival ( was in Elizabethton High School marching band.. we played in competition concert and we got to attend a game.. I can remember being in awe of the whole atmosphere..

So how did that end up ?

In my first life, 1879 we played The mountain men of the Ozarks on a dirt field in the old Indian country of North Georgia..Vols won 11 to 2

1st Sep. 6, 1980 vs Georgia Led 15-0 Lost 16-15 Hershel/Bill Bates
2nd Sep. 13, 1980 vs USC Lost 20-17 after Steve Alatorre threw an int. on our last drive which led to a game losing FG as time expired

Not a good time to start going to games

I was at both of those games...Both heart breakers...But got to see two of the greatest RB's to play the game AS FRESHMEN in Herschel Walker "UGA" and Marcus Allen "USC" the week after.

Yes you did. I was there for USC.

Third Saturday in October of 1974, in Knoxville vs Alabama...a 28-6 loss. I was 11 years old, my dad got free tickets from a friend, and we sat in Sec A near the Bama fans and their band....I still hate hearing the beginning of "Yea Alabama!" to this day.

Define oldie! I was at that Duke game - finished off a whole half pint of Dickel just to get through that d*** game.
First game was in 1980 or 81 - can't remember which year right off the bat. We beat Wichita State by only two. The Shockers no longer have a football team. We were not that good, but they were a lot better than what we have now.

I remember that game well....it was my freshman year at UT (81), and Wichita State's QB was named Prince McJunkins. Funny, the things that stick with you...lol.
