If the president can't do anything about our education then why to they stand up there and talk about it? Give me a pres. who wants to act on what he/she preaches and help our youth instead of "helping bring peace to the middle east"

Because no matter how many ways they find to screw it up, there are still people out there who keep buying hook line and sinker the notion that the federal government can educate effectively.

You do understand that the main one of the primary duties of the Executive Office of our Federal Government is foreign affairs, right?

I could go a step further. The two main tasks of the Federal Government are to act as mediator between the states and to act as advocate for the interest of those states with foreign nations.

So, does education fall into either of those categories? I do not believe so. Does "helping bring peace to the Middle East"? Yes.
