I agree we need post players and consistent shooters. I was just pointing out that he does help develop post players.

I think that a lot of us fans expect way too much from the players we have. We have to be real, based upon the present situation these players are overachieving when and if they beat teams like Maryland, Baylor, ND and UCONN. Can they catch on fire in the tourney? All things are possible in the right situation and effort. However, they will have to be lightening in the bottle good.

I will give Izzy her props, she was a great post for her size, but give her 40 or 50 additional lbs. and you have a super beast.

40 or 50 pounds on Izzy???? You would have an overweight player who could not move or jump.

Dean can not magically transform long and lean players like Izzy and Nia into female Shaqs.

Graves, Moore, Jones, Nared, and Dunbar are all 6'2". We can still put a big lineup on the floor that creates mismatches for other teams as well.

Jones isn't playing, Moore is 80 pounds so she is easy to push off the block. Dunbar, don't know what we have in her. She can hit the three but Holly want let her play much because of defense. That leaves Graves and Nared both who are good four players we don't have a center on the roster and that is what I was talking about. Russell is our only true five big player. SC has Coates, Ibiam, and Wilson.

I can see Kortney transferring in order to get more playing time.

I don't see that happening, she has stated in interviews that she understands she has to wait her turn, and also she looks genuinely engaged with the team while on the sidelines.

Agreed! Watching her on the sidelines during the games is highly entertaining. She's having a blast and is all Lady Vol!!

When you see her wiping around that towel and jumping up and down Dunbar seem to be all in. She seem like a integral part of the Lady Vols.

No one in their right mind expects Dean to turn even Russell into a baby Shaq. That would be a miracle.

I hope not but i might agree with you on this one. The problem here is where do she play the 3 or 4 ? you have DeShields 6-1 playing the 2 and 3 and to me the wildcard is Jordan Reynolds 5-11 6-0 playing the 1 and 2. At 5-11 6-0 she is bigger the most point pg. Then you have Carter at pg. The problem with Carter is she has a very good looking jump shot but don`t shoot the ball very well from the outside. But note she is getting better in that department and with more work over the summer she should be ready for next year. And note for a pg she is a very good rebounder. Some say move Nared to the 4 ? i think she`s better on the wing but you never know. Then you have Jones yes she`s 6-2 and very athletic but needs to play more under control would be better at the 4 . We all know Holly will go with 6-2 Graves at the 4. I say with some hard work over the summer giving Moore a shot a playing the 4 with 6-6 would be a good move.

You're right. That is my point. Realistically, how many minutes is Kortney going to get? That is why I suggested she may want to transfer. Because she is a cheer leader on the bench means little to nothing.

But lately everybody's been playing out position, we've had to move players around to accommodate for the lack of personnel we've had. But next year if all goes as planned everybody gets back to their natural positions. Spreading pt next will be easier for the wings and posts than the guard position.
Keep Jordan as the point guard, because we've been lacking a pg guard that can create shots for herself. Draya remains as the two guard, and if Jannah's healthy and her accuracy is as good as everyone says move her to the two guard. Then that leaves Diamond and Kortney playing the three. It makes sense to move Jaime to the four, because she's stronger in the post than Kortney. And Kortney from what I've seen her in the post doesn't like contact period and Jaime doesn't shy away from it. Also I'd say let Jas work some as a 5 it would hurt us none with her athletism.

If you ask me my honest opinion not only is Dunbar out of the mix so is Middleton. We are loaded in the backcourt i know some on this board will say i`m wrong and it`s not fair but it is what it is. But what really hurts this team for 3 years now is. The staff not working with Graves on a face up game. I know this year Holly talked about how they are working on it with her. But to me it is way to late. Think about if Graves had a faceup game she would be hard to stop at the 4 spot.

Graves does have a faceup game. She's got a pretty consistent 12-15 foot jump shot that she's been firing off without hesitation for the latter part of the season.

Tennessee loses Massengale and gains Cooper. I don't think Te'a will play as many minutes next year as Ariel, and I can see Middleton picking up the minutes that Te'a doesn't absorb and add it to what she's playing now. Middleton will get 12-15 minutes next year, if I had to guess.

Deshields, Nared, Graves and Jones should be the regular rotation at both forward positions, with Dunbar possibly getting some minutes in certain situations.

If Tucker comes back healthy next year and has her stroke, I'd like to see her get more minutes from Carter. Tennessee needs shooters, and neither Reynolds, Carter or Deshields are exactly 3 pt specialists. If Jannah can stroke it from beyond the arc and play decent defense, she needs to be playing 20 minutes per game.

Ok Graves have a little faceup game i will give you that, And my bad i forgot about Cooper. By the way i had a chance to what a lot of tape on her this year. One thing i notice is she lacks a jump shot will need to work on that. As for Carter loosing minutes not gonna happen Holly likes Carter and her defense. As for Nared she`s getting better each game. And will be a good one next year.

I think the guard position will be a lot better without AMass. Her defense is okey, not excellent and she can be a very inconsistent shooter as she has been the last two games. She also stands around when she is having a bad game. She is more of an active impact player when she is scoring.

Te'a has some super hops. There is a video online of her trying to dunk a ball. I do not recall her dunking the ball but she got her hand over the goal. She looks like she has Jewel Lloyd potential. I just do not see Holly starting a freshman that might be her second best guard.

Per Kortney, players know when they come to a talent rich program, they may have wait their turn for major minutes but still relish the opportunity to become the best player they can be. And athletes are also people who form relationships and connections to the school and city So transferring is not always an attractive option (plus losing a year of eligibility is another disincentive).

And for all the speculation about who will play where, when everybody is ready next year, when is the last time that the LVs had everybody? This seems to be another "Holly can't win" scenario. When her critics are not complaining about the teams lack of depth (why doesn't Holly recruit more players), they turn to complaints that the team has too many players (why does Holly recruit so much?).

PS., the LVs' season is NOT over yet.

If the starters next year take care of business in the first 15 mins like they should do, then it'll be enough playing time for everybody.

He also worked with Glory Johnson who became an All-American. Beware that there is a lot of fake Lady Vols fans on this board who only purpose is to be negative and stir the pot. To say this man don't help develop post players is ignorant and stupid.

Candace Parker also gave Lockwood a lot of credit for helping her.

This may be a public forum, but a teenage girl's medical information is private.

My bad. When you brought up Russell, I thought we were talking about next year's roster, in which case, Jones would be back, and Dunbar and Moore would have another year of conditioning and experience.

I can see Kortney transferring in order to get more playing time.

Do you have some inside information you'd like to share with the rest of us?

Lots of naysayers on this board, for a team with a boatload of injuries that's managed to get at least a 2-seed in the tourney.

For the record, I hope she stays.

I have zero inside info. I just know that players who have a strong desire to play, will sometimes transfer if they can not get enough playing time in their present situation. It has happened several times with the Lady Vols over the past decade or so. I hope she stays.

DeShields will never be a forward here.

Next year I can see the 5 starters Reynolds, Carter, DeShields, Nared and Graves. Or, Reynolds, Carter, DeShields, Graves and Russell. However, Graves at the four is problematic. She doesn't play the 4 well. Jones, Cooper, Middleton, Moore will get most of the back up minutes. Dunbar, Tucker, Jackson, will get minutes as they develop parts of their games. Dunbar needs to improve her rebounding. Tucker just needs to get healthy.

With Holly's penchant for playing the more experienced upperclassmen, I see your second possibility (Reynolds, Carter, DeShields, Graves and Russell) as next year's starting lineup. Middleton and Cooper as subs in the backcourt. Nared and Jones as forward subs and Moore as backup center. That's 10. Just not many minutes left for Dunbar, Tucker and Jackson. That's my projection for the start of next year. As we have seen, changes during the year are not only possible but probable.

NARED needs to become more Physical and Tenacious on defense, to quote a ESPN recruiting analyst. I agree.
