What's the Case for Arizona as last #1?

Frankly, I'd rather be the 1st 2 seed than the last 1 seed. If we are last 1 seed, we will be sent out west! Ugh
Such a loser mentality, probably just how you were raised

1 seeds have a 2x rate of making the FF than 2 seeds

I’ve never met anyone successful who wanted to finish worse than what was possible

You’d rather face the team that is 27-3 in the best league in the sport and has been KenPom #1 all year long than an Arizona team that hasn’t beaten a ranked opponent since December?
Admittedly, I've only watched them play once this season. You are probably right.

I can understand the line of thinking of not wanting to go west. I just think that is an overblown narrative by our fans. Arizona is a better draw for us. And they are also probably far more likely to get upset before the Elite 8 than Houston as well.

Or maybe they just haven’t seen the data. Doesn’t that seem possible versus slamming their parents, how this person thinks and implying they’re not successful? Holy overreaction Batman!

I haven't heard anything about Arizona's roster.

Has it remained intact throughout this season? Have they lost anyone since the 2023 part of the season? Do they have anyone earlier injured who's returning to top form in time for the tournament?

Might be confused on this, but I see UT as the top #2 seed if we're not a #1. That would put us in the same bracket with the lowest #1 seed which I'd assume to be AZ, no? We're headed west regardless? Yeah, I know this pod system will put us in Charlotte early, but then we'd head west anyway, right?

Houston is SCjr on steroids. I want no part of that bunch. I'd rather get any of the other 1 seeds than those guys.

No, not how it works.

Houston is probably the team I least want to face, they’re South Carolina but with way more talent. They will body us and get physical with our guards, have a bigger/longer/better Mashack who would likely give Knecht fits, and they’ve got 2 guards who can score. No thanks.

It is not how it works, I agree. The committee is flawed and seeds improperly all the time. I would rather stay in our region because of officials. All the outside noise of the Pac 12 will ensure that AZ gets the calls in that region. It is not rigged but it can be when you have a committee with their own agenda. Houston is a problem and I agree, but fear no one. Purdue would be my choice if we are a 2 seed. Not sure about UCONN but we can bang with the best. The Committee should just chalk the NET rankings and move on. It is the body of work. SOS has been a factor and should alway be considered.

We only play Arizona if it’s for the E8, what do the percentages say both a 1 & 2 make it to an E8 game? My thing is cross that bridge when it gets there, there’s a great chance you never even see Arizona.

Not worried about %. Call it like you see it. On paper, on the court, or from the stands. A 1 seed is a 1 seed and giving Arizona a one seed over Tennessee at this moment and time is a "Poster Child Moment" If they make it to the E8 against one another then so be it. Deal in the present not the future of "what is the percentages" . Future matchups and percentages are not relevant to the seeds of teams.

Exactly. People place far too much value on being in Dallas, which isn’t even that close to Knoxville. We have now played South Carolina twice and had two of our worst shooting performances of the year both times.

South Carolina is an awful matchup for us. Facing a better version of that has zero appeal to me. I’d rather face UConn who I think is the best overall team but is more finesse than physical.

For non-1 seed teams, Iowa St is that for me. I’d rather see them in someone else’s bracket.
