What's wrong with.......

Sort of, except it's not personal.

I get the sense reading some of the posts from people on here that Memphis and those in the Memphis area, for whatever reason, hate Tennessee.

That's not the attitude people in the panhandle have for the Florida schools. The people in the panhandle don't hate Florida, Florida State or Miami (although Miami rarely recruits the panhandle). The talent over there just is more drawn to Alabama and Auburn.

But, there are many talented players over the years that Florida and Florida State were able to land from the Panhandle.

I can't imagine wanting to leave the panhandle. Well with Club La Leva and all the boiled peanuts and stuff.

I am from Clarksville which is only a little over half and hour north of nashville. Every since i was little i have always loved the VOLS no matter the sport. Every year seems to be more bandwagon fans than actual diehard ones anymore.

also whataburgers around Charlotte NC...been to several around Concord. Ever had a witch doctor?

there's a Whataburger in Destin. Went and got them for one of the days on the beach. So good we had to do it again the next day. Wish there was one in Nashville.

I'm ready for blowback on this but I can unequivocally state it based on my experiences and observations during several decades living in the south. In any large southern town you will find that a lot of the blacks root for whoever regularly beats the team that they perceive to be the favored team of most of the local whites. I'm not going to delve into the psychology of this one but I've seen it proven out enough times that I'd say it's a solid theory if not a rule.

I can also tell Y'all that the blue collar white community, whether urban or rural, is a pretty fickle group when it comes to team support. Historically, most folks who fit in this group were not college graduates so they don't have an alumni connection. A lot of these folks live vicariously through their associations and it's natural that if you're going to do that you'll pick a winner and Bama has been good for a lot of that time. I bet you didn't see nearly as many of the folks during the era between Stallings and Saban. I know I didn't.

The post about admissions at UT caught my eye. St. Cecelia has never been renowned as any sort of elite academic institution on par with HH. I am surprised by the reprt that MBA grads are not getting into UT, although I'm sure they had a lot of empty seats to fill when Ensworth HS opened.

I work with a guy that was raised in Tennessee and is a diehard Gator football fan and a Kentucky basketball fan as well. Worst part is two of his family members played sports at UT. I don't get it lol.

I went to MTSU and most of my close friends were big Bama fans. Some of them had family in Alabubba and some of them just didn't like Tennessee because none of the middle tn teams are relevant (MTSU included) and I'm guessing they were just mad they didn't have a "home" team to be proud of. I grew up in Memphis and there was an equal mix of Tennessee hatred because of Memphis' irrelevance in anything except basketball. I also now live in Central Arkansas and I've noticed most everyone from here is a Hog fan. That being said that's really the only team to be a fan of other than A State, who has only had success in the last few years. I have found quite a few Vol fans out here in Arky which makes my living here a little less miserable lol!

Yeah, Alabama is a short drive south of Nashville.

I've always thought the Saturday in October should be played at LP Field with both teams wearing home jerseys. That would look sweet on TV and in person. Especially half orange/half crimson fans at LP Field.

It would automatically be the best neutral field rivalry game.

I have no idea why people Volunteer to drive to Bham.. their is nothing here

I like to drive around Albuquerque, NM to see all the scenes from "Breaking Bad."

If you drive to Birmingham, you can see all the scenes from about thirty-five "48 Hours" crime documentaries.

Oh and you can also visit lesion field.

As a growing city Nashville is full of people from all over. Native Tennesseans are the majority but there are plenty of people from elsewhere and they probably raise their kids to root for their team.
