When did we start saying "woo"?

The woo came up during a vacation this year with family and a group of friends. We had the bar musician play Rocky Top (dude knows us as we're there every year) and the group 'woo'ed.' At any rate, the musician told us, he gets asked to play Rocky Top a lot and that he could always tell die hard vol fans from non-die hards by the woo. Die-hards woo'ed in his opinion. That was his outsiders opinion of it (he's in South Carolina).

I think it's because woo'ers participate a little more in the song than non-woo'ers -- if you're willing to woo then you're probably singing louder and acting more into the song than the more stoic non-woo'ers.

IMO, it's a song about saying f-the-police/revenuers, protecting your stash at all costs and drinking shine so woo'ing is good and appropriate!

Went to an away game in SC a few years ago, sat on the right directly behind the Tubas. I got quite a few chuckles at some of the stuff the band added/said during warmups and when they played their songs.

I believe the above poster that the 'woo' originated from the band.
