When did you punch-out on Dooley?

Part-way through MSU. That was just so damn sad. So very, very damn sad. The combination of bad play calls + poor execution...

This is what I've struggled with in attempting to figure out what's on the coaching staff and what's not: I genuinely don't understand players not going out their and playing their hearts out on individual levels, even if they're poorly coached, but I guess it does happen. I saw it with my kids playing club and high school sports, but I really did think that it would be different at the college level. But I suppose not.

And yes, I've seen lots of individual effort, but what I don't see is on-the-field leadership, that we're-all-in-this-together-let's-show-some-pride ethic. I did think that that would be independent of whatever was coming from the coaching staff, but from what I've read from the less-hysterical posters here, that also is related to coaching. Oh, well.

I really, really wanted CDD to do it, because I love underdogs, but it does appear that that's a Hollywood story.

It's not "when did you want to punch-out Dooley" because the wee-hours of Sunday morning we all did, but rather, when did you come to the realization that he isn't the man?

For me, it's actually been what a lot of people regard as a Dooley strength: his pressers.

"Showergate" made explicit to me that he was doing his OJT as a big time football coach. I think that was before he had even coached a game. Comparing the Vols to the damn Nazi army was just asinine in the "Looking for Rommel" soliloquy. I got tired of Dooley using the UTHFC position to audition for some stand-up comedy headlining tour.

When the staff bolted on him in the off-season for lateral moves, it was clear we were headed for a dumpster fire. He could not instill faith in the process with the people he assembled to put the process together. Josephs might have been the most damning.

The on-the-field record speaks for itself.

He deserves his buy-out; he stabilized the programme from the dumpster fire that was Kiffin's March through Knoxville. But we have to replace him this year, and we have to hit a homerun with the next hire.

Ok Mr Nega Vol we gonna beat Bama saturday- Just kidding. My Guess for the over/under point disparity- I wiill say 24, as in Bama 34 Dooleyites ( led by the intrepid , steely-eyedT Bray) 9. Could lose by 50 very easily. I am done with this version of the Vols. Why anyone would pay good money to watch this beatdown in person is a mystery to me. I may not even watch on TV if SC/Fla is on at the same time. UT is soo bad, it is pathetic.

When he called a timeout with 3:58 left on the 3rd and seven against MSU to give Mullen time to call the right play for the conversion.

I never liked the hire from day one but the Kentucky game last year sealed it for me.

Mega Ditto to that thought. The whole Dooley era has been marked with incompetence and new lows for the program . First back to back Losing seasons ever! We gave him the 3 years he ask for and we are only a liitle better. At this rate, it will take 20 years to win another SEC crown. Enough of this scheiss. Get a big name coach like Gruden, Payton, or even Dan Mullen would be a major upgrade . Life is too short to watch this uninspired team and these inept coaches. If we end up 6-6 with the soft, soft schedule we have played- you wont be able to give tix away in 2013. And 6-6 is a real possibility. Carson Newman could get 6 wins playing the schedule of UT 2012

When he holds up one finger after every touchdown. No **** you are going to kick an extra point after a touchdown in the first quarter. How bout when you're going for two hold up to fingers, every time else don't do anything. It's like that's the only time in a game he feels like he making the right call.

LSU win/loss he had no control over his team, coaches or sideline. He looked like a kid standing there while the biggest game of his career slipped past him. Worst part is he had no fire after it... A good coach would of blown up in his "presser" taken a fine but prove to hus team that its not ok to screw his players out of a win they should of had even if the system was broken.

Had serious doubts after Ky game. Gave benefit of the doubt and renewed hope after NC State. Punched him out in the 4th quarter of Florida game after we layed down for a team we are better than talent wise IMO. Said I'd give last chance if he went 9-4. It ain't happening. So sick of losing and by its purest definition, Dooley is a loser.

I honestly think anytime before Kentucky of last year was too soon. It was Kentucky for me. It still blows my mind to this day. There's just no excuse for it.

During the first half of the Ms St game. IMO, the D can be bad during a transition to the 3-4, as expected, but watching our D-line literally look like they were doing a pre-game run through (fire off, stand up and hold onto the guy in front of you) was too much to take. They wern't getting blocked, they were not trying. Look, I understand that sometimes you can work your arse off and get beat, but that is not what I saw. I saw a lack of desire that made a "kid" look like an all-american by just laying back and doing a "walk through. I can't stomach that crap and it is an embarassment.

I had serious concerns when he didn't address the problems with the kicking situation at UT, however; I punched out after the Florida game when the same give up attitude and lack of discipline that was here last year showed up again. This proved to me that he does not have a handle on this team

Shameless Bump.

Wondering if it took last night to convince a final few.

Plus, kevol80s "Punch-Out" Gif is instant classic.

To be honest, I had doubts right off the bat when I saw his record at Louisiana Tech. When I looked him up to see how he'd done there, I was thinking (assuming) that he probably had pretty good record there, warranting his hiring at Tennessee. When I saw that he didn't, I just gave him the benefit of the doubt.

I really started to have serious doubts after Wilcox left for what essentially was a lateral move, then gave up after the Florida loss this year.

I knew it was over at the middle of the 3rd quarter against Mizzou. Had we destroyed them, them come out and rolled vandy and KY, i believe he would be here. So for you haters in the bunch, these 2 loses did it for me -- i hope the program is on the rise from here.

mizzouri. not beating teams we are more talented than is just ridiculous.

Tennessee's offense is more talented that Mizzou's offense. Unfortunately those squads aren't the ones playing against each other.

Tennessee's defense is NOT more talented than Mizzou's offense. Just because you have a good offense with several guys who could get drafted doesn't mean you're a good team. That's Jerry Jones logic at the college level.
