When did you punch-out on Dooley?

When he was hired. Gave the key to an OJT coach trainee. It was doomed from the beginning. I do agree with posters that see him as a fantastic AD somewhere but not a coach. I respect Coach Dooley. Dang, who would turn down such an opportunity. I wish him well. I want to see what the leadership has planned for us next. Folks got there antenna up. It want be so easy to fool this time.

I was never on board with Dooley. It degraded our program by bringing in the son of a rival's beloved coach. Never mind that he was completely unproven at mid-major LaTech.

Kiffin put us in a jam but Dooley was a terrible knee jerk decision. Kippy Brown should have been given an interim tag with the same deal Dabo Swinney received. Hamilton then could have done a proper coaching search and pulled the trigger when the timing was right.

That said, our program has stabilized significantly over the last two years (even if the record doesn't agree). Our future is a lot brighter than a lot of folks think.

post a little more

I soured after the Kentucky lost, began to lose hope after the Florida collapse and totally bailed after the MSU loss.

When I had to google him when he was hired.

Seriously though, after UF this year

Underrated posts IMHO.

When he was hired, seriously, my first thought was, "Is he related to Vince???" Had to Google him.

When he gave us "Showergate" I was like: "WhoTF is this guy? Oh man, he has a lot to learn."

At the time though, Kiffin truly had burned us and camped the NCAA in our backyard. In a way I admired his moxie for coming.

What I still can't understand is why was he more competitive with Fulmer's young men and Matt Simms than he was with his own guys? What the hell happened?

Tried to buy in, never fully did, but this was my process...

1) Georgia 2011 - don't think this guy will get it done.

2) Kentucky 2011 - know for sure this guy won't get it done.

3) Florida 2012 - He is done...

Solid.

Florida 2012 and seizing defeat from the jaws of victory at home was the final straw. It extinguished any lingering embers of hope for me too. Which is funny - I'm still not sure how I managed to have any hope for this season after 9/10th of the staff bolted for lateral moves.

Felt it was a bad hire, but thought that once he was hired he ought to have been given two years to demonstrate that he had things moving in the right direction. I would have been glad to see him go after last season.

At the beginning of this season, I was actually impressed. We played very well in the NC State game and had a great first half against Florida. The second half of that game was an absolute embarrassment, and it has been all downhill since. I think Hart could have saved the university some money by canning Dooley after the Miss. St. game (I think more fans would have bought tickets and shown up to home games to support the team and the interim coach). I am baffled as to how Hart allowed Dooley to stick around after the Mizzou game.

I was very suspicious about Dooley's hire from the get go. It was an emergency hire in a critical point in the off-season. I officially punched out after the Kentucky game last year. I hoped for better this year, but UF only confirmed what I knew. Dooley was not the guy.

I kept trying to convince myself to support him. After the loss at Miss. St. I knew he wasnt the long term solution. Not sure what it was about that game, but I checked out after that one.

i had my doubts from the first. two reasons: 1. the idiot who hired him and the manner in which he was hired by the idiot (too well known to need retelling), and 2. the undeniable fact that other than his last name, dooley had absolutely no credentials for the job (i think he would have had a hard time landing an assistant's job at a big name program). hearing that dooley was hammy's choice was as stunning as opening a program at carnegie hall and finding the runner-up in the bearden h.s. talent contest listed as a headliner. and as we all know, dooley lived down to his resume. sorry, doolaid drinkers--that sow's ear is still a sow's ear.

After Florida this year. Dooley never got any breaks his first 2 seasons and played 33 true freshman but this year he blew. Every game coaching mistake after mistake. It's his job as a coach to get his guys to play hard and head in the game and he failed miserably this year.

The Miss State game this season. Wanted to vs Florida, almost did vs UGA, but the Miss State game was the last straw

After the Florida game for sure. Dooley will forever be known as a terrible second half coach. Its not a tag anyone should relish. Now thats its finally over I wonder why his teams played so poorly in the second half? Defensively they just gave up way too many yards period run or pass this was a truly bad defense. And last season they ranked 27th defense overall and now they are like 112th. But he had his chances to get a signature win and they just found a way to lose all of them. I remember the defense getting back to back 3 and outs late in Georgia game to give us a chance and the offense just couldn't execute. The thing about Bray is I never remember him winning a SEC game with a game winning drive. Since he only won 4 SEC games in 3 years its pretty easy to remember. I do think they abdoned the run in the second half and that was a mistake. And lets face it the heralded receivers all dropped a lot of passes they should of caught. But Dooley lost all goodwill when he decided to take a knee at the end of regulation against Missori. I dont hate Dooley he just wasn't a good head coach.
