Thought we would win, but was concerned when Florida was going for 2.

Felt like we were the better team for most of the game, but just couldn't capitalize on opportunities.

I thought they would go for it as well but that our defense would get the stop. I think that's why Napier didn't go for it. Our defense had their number the entire night.

As soon as they got the ball, I looked at my wife and said "They are going to go down the field and score, then go for 2 points and win the game".

Had they gone for two, they would have won.

..but they didn't, Vols by fiddy!

I was relieved they didn’t go for 2. We had outplayed them overall in the second half and we were at home. Felt like overtime favored us overall. I really felt good when we won the toss and deferred, especially at home. Then when they didn’t even get a field goal my confidence went to real high. GBO

Dam people. Tennessee beat Florida. Mauled their defense in overtime. Sampson scored twice. One counted. We play Alabama this week.
We outplayed them big time in second half. Credit them for making a big 3rd and long to tie it up. As good as our D was I can’t believe they didn’t go for 2 with 29 seconds left. No guarantees they would have made it against our D but a better chance than beating us in overtime on the road. Especially when we had outplayed them in 2nd half.

I said to myself I hate we showed we could move the ball if we did not put ourselves in second or fourth hired and long. When we completed the pass first down, I was was pretty sure we would win if we didn’t fumble or have a couple of penalties. The aggressive offense was the game changer.

This year (unlike previous seasons) we watched with some friends. Usually I’m the most miserable POS to be around on Florida game day hence why I chose to watch alone. And I discovered that forcing myself to be “social” and interact with other people during the game distracted me enough that I somewhat ignored the urge to curse and be short with my family. So there’s that

Like I felt in every game for the last 20 years, except for 2016. That's the only game where I could finally relax in the last 3 minutes of the game.

Still hopeful the Vols could win the game, although nervous because overtime isn’t some cake walk in College Football because both teams get to possess the football so it’s fair for that aspect which is great in a world where frustrating unfairness aspects is common.

Why do I put myself through this?

Because it was a thrilling game even though Vols fans didn’t want overtime for the Vols to prevail because winning in overtime isn’t some cakewalk even with getting the short field.

As odd as it sounds, I was confident we were still going to win. It was a blown coverage that probably shouldn't have even happened. I just had this feeling our defense would hold on and win it. Basically when we went up 17-10, I had a gut feeling we were going to win but I wasn't surprised Florida made it difficult.
