When Kiffin Left

I had just got to the gym and started my workout. About 10 min in, I saw the news on the TV. Ruined my workout and I ended up leaving frustrated and upset.

I was stunned when I heard it. A friend called me and then I went to ESPN for the fun. In my entire life I had never thought of Tennessee as a place someone would leave for another college job. I assumed we would be ok with the class coming in but we have been wallowing for a while now.

Saw it on Twiitter and thought I would post it here and see what some of you guys were doing when your heard the news. I will never forget it I was setting at my computer and and was surfing the web and came across ESPN and there it was KIFFIN BOLTS FOR USC. I swear something died inside of me that night it was basically as if I had just heard about a tragic death was the way I felt.

I had mixed emotions....glad he was leaving because I didn't think he deserved the job but I was worried about the recruiting class. I wasn't pissed that he left, I was pissed that we hired him

Thank God Kiffin is heading to Alabama. I was afraid we'd all forget and stop talking about him.

I was pretty livid. But the best part was that my 85 year old grandma, bless her soul, called me that night at like 12 after he held that press conference. Other than that night, I'm pretty sure she hasn't ever been up past 9 PM.

She was cursing his name, yelling (with a typical 85 year old Tennessean accent) "Can you believe he just upped n' slithered off in the middle of the night like a snake?! That bastard! That coward! I have the right mind to slap him silly if I ever set eyes on him!"

I'm looking forward to her and kiffy meeting face to face this upcoming October. He's got some hell to pay.

I was announcing at a high school BB game and my wife sent me a text with the info, so I couldn't react until I got to my car. On the short drive home, I called him everything short of a terrorist. When I got home, I found my Camp Kiffin t-shirt, grabbed it on each side of the collar, and ripped it in half. To this day, I have trouble saying his name without putting an expletive before it.

I wasn't too upset at first, I was still of the thought that we kinda settled for Kiffin and now could grab that "big name" that would come in and save recruiting and right the ship....It hit me when Dooley was hired that we might possibly be a decade away from being good again.

Okay, wait. That's what you were doing when you heard? So did someone just step in and say "Hey, guess what?" while you were at it or did you have SportsCenter on at the time or what? Maybe headphones with sports radio? Cuz that's busting some serious casual whichever way.
Layla told him that she was moving mid-coitus.

I recall hearing rumors that it was a possibility and when the news broke, I wasn't particularly surprised. I didn't really blame him because we knew that was his "dream" job--but we didn't think it would happen that quickly. What I do blame him for was telling fans that he wouldn't try to recruit UT commits and then when he and Ed O get on the plane. O starts calling the recruits.

Was on campus living in Morrill when it happened. Everyone was leaving the dorms and walking around outside. There was a definitely a mob mentality. I made my way down to the Pedestrian walkway where most of the other students were. People were climbing on the statue and I climbed up unto the lower metal beams. Cops came shortly after to clear people away from the statue, but by that time some of the metal had already bent. Was quite fun while it lasted. Always thought the statue was a pikachu ripoff anyway.

Every so often, I pull up the clip on YouTube that shows the local media and Bud Ford arguing just prior to Kiffin's short statement. It really is funny to watch a different side of those familiar personalities and how clearly ticked they were by the whole thing. And then Kesling comes shuffling in in his hoodie & messed up hair, looking like someone just got him out of bed, lol.

It does show you that much of our local media possesses a certain level of passion for the program.

I saw a text when I woke up. I didn't really care. I knew the hire was bad because the guy got canned from the Raiders..and Hammy made the hire. I knew Hamilton was destined to set the program back a decade or two. Then Dooley hire, another HC with a losing record, solidified my opinion of Hamilton the Program Destroyer. I think people should brace themselves for when CBJ leaves because it will eventually happen.

I was at the Melbourne library in Melbourne, Australia. I was on Govolsxtra and all of a sudden the page wouldn't load. I could go to other sites but not GVX. Went to espn's site next and there was a breaking news scroll at the top of the page. I've told this story a few times.

I was sitting at the dinner table at home. My cell phone starting ringing and when eating I ignore calls. After the 6th or 7th call I went ahead and answered it.

someone wanting to know I true and I said, no idea but I guess so since my phone was going crazy. Powered it off and sat back down to dinner

I honestly didn't care. Like one poster said, it wasn't a defining moment in my life. I can't even remember the day. I've done this thing called "moved the **** on". You guys should try it. It's great.

Didn't really affect me too much. Just took a s*** and flushed it down the toilet, like I did with the memory of him being our coach. Butch gets it!!

My reaction was not so much out of love for Kiffin. It was like I told a buddy the next day that Kiffin just set the program back 7-10 years. That was the reason for my meltdown.

PS- Talking about your reaction the night of his departure is not clinging to Kiffin. It's merely offseason filler.
