Always have been... but got much more passionate after living in Georgia for two years during college

My life story as a Vol fan right here. I worked in Georgia for 8 1/2 years and after hearing those pride happy morons I knew the passion for my Vols had grown.

It's no wonder people think Tennessee fans are backwater folks. One of our fans asked CBJ on ESPN the other day something to the effect of, "What did you think the first time you seen our facilities?" There it was, right in front of a national audience. We've got to do better, folks. If we want our Alabama jokes to stick, we can't have the log in our own eye. :jpshakehead:

Grammar aside, that's not much worse than the endless permutations of "How did you feel when [fill in the blank] happened," which is employed ad nauseam by sideline reporters.

When I was 5, was watching the 89' UT/AL game with my grandfather and he sat me on his knee, he went on to say "son, you are not supposed to hate anything in life, but, during football season you hate the color crimson"
We went 11-1 that season and I have hated crimson ever since.

1988. I was 11 going on 12, and the Vols were stinking up the joint to the tune of 0-6 (eat your heart out, Derek Dooley). That's when I first realized that it literally made me feel sick at my stomach for the Big Orange to lose a game. Still, I was optimistic every week, thinking the Vols would win and that nightmare would soon be over. I had been cheering for the Vols for as long as I could remember, but that season galvanized my love for them, since apparently no amount of sucking could change the way I felt.

I've been a Vol fan since I was 9 years old, the first time I saw Condredge Holloway on the 'Bill Battle Show' on Sunday mornings.

1967 season. Doug Dickey had turned the corner in rebuilding the program, leading us to eight-win seasons in 1965 and '66, and victories in the Bluebonnet and Gator Bowls, respectively. The '66 Gator Bowl was the first game that I have vivid memories of; we gave up nearly 300 yards to future Hall of Famers Larry Csonka and Floyd Little, but beat Syracuse 18-12. In '67, we beat Bear Bryant and Alabama for the first of four successive victories over the Tide and Dickey led the big Orange to his first SEC title.

66' Gator Bowl, and the Season that followed under Dickey. The January 1, 1968 Orange Bowl. Still think we got robbed that game.

Bobby Majors had the most return yards in a game against Penn State.......Happened to be his last game in Knoxville.....

The grammar taught around East TN is one of a kind.

Knew I was a Vol fan the first time I seen that orange.
The grammar learnt around East Tn are one of a kind. Knowed I were a Vol fan the first time seen that orange. Sorry, but I felt the urge to correct you.

For me it was Peyton's first start against UF also my first UT game. I was hooked. My dislike for Danny Wuerffel didn't hurt either. I always enjoyed college football but there was something different about Tennessee.

We could only get the games shown on CBS, if the game wasn't on tv I'd be stuck watching the sports ticker on a local station or sitting in my car listening to it on XM. Now my satellite provider offers a college package that costs a $120 a season.
