Where are the Prince supporters/apologizers..?

Ok.

So we'd have enough quality wins to overlook our roughly 18-11 (w/o JP, no way we beat Kentucky, Kansas, Florida, maybe even Memphis IMO) record and will then be banking on a guy who we've all been waiting to "explode" since he first set foot on campus to make a run through the tournament. All the while running wild through the tournament as a 10-11 seed at best.

Got it.

Under those assumtions, we werent supposed to beat Kansas or play as well as we have this season without Smith... no? The point is, without Prince, we would've made do JUST like we've made do without Smith. The other players would have steped up and while Tatum is not as good of a defender as Prince, he's easily a better offense player, IMO.

I think making an argument that Prince is simply a dispensable piece of this team fails every time. He is the best all around player on our team.

Your posts are like clockwork. You show up shortly after a game (win or lose) and start a thread trashing someone.

Your last 3 threads:

1. Where are the Prince supporters/apologizers?
2. Chism, the biggest baby on the planet?
3. New Hopson nickname: Scotty Flopson, Scotty Buston, Scotty Soften, etc...

Let's not forget the "Things that Stephen Pearl does that grinds your gears" thread or the "Wow, Prince did everything he could to lose that game" thread.

You are as regular as my poop.

Everyone of those threads are reasons why we'll lose in the 1st or 2nd round of the tournament this year. I'll gladly eat my words if this team makes it to the Sweet 16.

Or you could just go away???

I love the ol "I'd be glad to eat my words" mentality. It gives you a free pass to trash anything and everything.

All you have to do when you're wrong is say "I'm glad I was wrong" or "I'm pleasantly surprised." But when they lose you can say "See, I told you so!"

It's a nice safe place to be. But quite LAME.

The same was said about Smith, no?

What's the point? One of the reasons we were able to compensate for the loss of Smith is because of J.P. Prince. Smith and Prince are similar players in that they are excellent all-around players. We have no one that could do what Prince is doing now.

So we can get rid of Smith and get rid of Prince and still be ok.

Anyone else we need to cut while we are at it to make the team more effective for a tournament run?

I would rather watch a Princeless 10 seed team give their all and either lose in the 1st round or make it to the 2nd then watch a 4-5 seed team with Prince under achieve and lose in the 1st or 2nd round.

In this hypothetical, we're going to lose either way but at least the quality of basketball will be better and more tolerable without Prince than with him, IMO.

Get off Prince at this point. He has exceeded our expectations and is our lone offensive catalyst this season. He makes our D better with his length. We definitely drop off when he leaves the floor.

You want to gripe about players, beat up our PGs, who are improved, yet are the reason we are so absurdly inconsistent.

The more important question is who is everyone going to hate on once he IS gone?

If you are implying that Prince is going to be the sole reason we don't advance in the tourney, I find that absurd.

Im a big JP Prince fan. here is a guy who before coming to tennesse was in a coma and almost lost his life. from that he was rail thin. he transferred to tenn where he was an instant spark off the bench. in his last 2 offseasons at ut he had reconstuctive surgery on each shoulder. yet he still played in both seasons following those surgeries. he brings an engery and swagger to the b-ball team that will be missed.

I nominate UT's#1Fan! I've already gotten a head start on the rest of you, though... :)

So I take it you're ok with prince deciding when and when not to play to his full potential? You also must be ok with allowing opposing teams score uncontested layups as prince admitted to doing in last nights game? Good to know...

I could not find a narrative of his interview. Can you post them in this thread? I think it would help clear things up a bit.

Trufan,

As previously requested, can you post the transcript of JP's interview? You said you read it. It sure would be beneficial in trying to understand the context of this thread....

You're right. Prince is a terrible basketball player. I wish he'd never come to UT and I can't wait 'til he's gone. I'm positive my new opinion will influence the coaches to bench him for the remainder of the season in anticipation of the return of Swiperboy! Thanks for setting me straight, your threads always add so much to this board!

I'm OK with this:

Name Min FG 3Pt FT Off Reb Ast TO Stl Blk PF Pts
J.P 23 5-8 0-0 2-2 2 5 1 6 1 0 3 12

The TOs were excessive but, with Prince, you live by the sword and die by the sword.

This. JP may make his share of mistakes, and he isn't an elite player. But he is not a terrible player by any stretch.
