Where are the sooner fans?

Glad to have you guys here on our board. Welcome to VN. While there are always a few embarrassing jackleg fans who simply weren't "raised right", I sincerely hope youfind our fans kind and respectful. We have certainly got a tough task ahead going into Norman this weekend, and i look forward to a good game.

If we weren't so seemingly overmatched in the trenches, i would expect us to win in a close game. With the inexperienced kids we are relying on, logic says depth and maturity should have your Sooners pulling away late. i think those that see us getting demolished by 28pts+ are foolish based on our WR talent alone. I am sure however that Coleman will manage to get burned on at least 1 long touchdown....he always does. Of course he was the one who got torched deep vs. USU if you are looking for an example of his coverage skills at corner...ouch.

Who are the gamebreakers on offense and defense for your squad? What would be your biggest concern for this ballgame or the rest of the season? Glad to have your perspective and hope you guys make it down to Neyland next season.

Gamebreakers for Offense would be WR. Shepard. He also returns punts and always finds a way to get open. I would also say our 3 headed monster at RB. Ford is a power guy that will run you over. Ross is a speed guy. Dude knows how to hit a hole and is gone. Our freshmen Perine will be a tough tackle. You might wrap him up but he's got strong legs that don't stop. He drug about 4 La Tech guys into the endzone the 1st game.

As for defense. Striker is probably your biggest threat. Dude can play anywhere. He isn't big but the dude has the quickness and footwork to get by the linemen. He can also cover receivers. Other than Striker I would say our D Line. All of them. They all know how to get to the QB, and Phillips in the middle will shut down most runs that try to go through there. He's always getting doubled and still finds a way to blow up the hole.

Our weakness is our lack of experience at our defensive backs. With Sanchez planning on playing, it helps. We have guys that can play there they just haven't had much experience. We could get burned once or twice deep if your O-Line blocks long enough but that's been most teams problems. We put enough pressure on the QB with 4 or 5 guys that he doesn't have enough time to hit the deep ball.

Should be a fun game experience and Sooner fans are looking forward to the game and taking on Tennessee. As OFD mentioned above, weather is going to be perfect, low 70's at kickoff. We're doing a stripe the stadium, alternate unis are rumored to be worn (but Stoops hedged on them being ready in his press conference today), and you'll get to hear your fight song from the OU band before the game. If Sooners go up in second half, there'll be lots of secsecsec. We've had a lot of big-name games in Norman under Stoops (Bama, UCLA, FSU, Miami, etc) and they always amp up the game experience at Owen Field.

Classy posts from Sooner fans this week for the most part. If we were to pull this off then it would be the biggest upset in UT history. Anything is possible but we are so outmatched on the line I cannot find a way to victory in my mind outside the Sooners just laying an egg.

Suddenly I have that damn Oklahoma musical song stuck in my head ... Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. Over and over and over again.

Sooner fan here. Just found out I can't make the game. But you better believe I will be in Knoxville next year.

Get there early and walk around Campus Corner. Then stroll the areas around the stadium. I promise you will be asked to join at a tailgate. Food and drinks. Then game-time.

I've like OU since the at the time game of the century. Nebraska had Rodgers and you guys had this great running back. Sorry I can't remember his name. I was the only one in my circle of friends for Oklahoma. I followed the team when you had the son of a preacher man (Switzer). I did think that J C Watts was a bit of a thug. Boy was I wrong. Anyway make no mistake I am all Vol but I was doing some sooner boomer during your game with bama last year.

OU is 88-5 in their last 93 home games. To think a 3 TD underdog will go there and win is nearly insurmountable task. Having said that, I look forward to driving up from Midland, TX and enjoying the game. As to the asshat that said Texas is the lower cow pasture of OK, you are invited to go F yourself. As long as you fill up your vehicle with gas once a week, we don't care what you think.

We've had quite a few who have registered. Some have already provided good information on the Sooners and the game day experience in Norman.

One was banned after a lame wife/sister quip. If you're going to join an opponents message board just to be an ass, at least bring some good material.

Yeaahhh...OU fan must not live in Oklahoma..

I worked on a contract just west of OKC, near Norman, and the people I worked with said the area was worse than Iraq.

Ive been to both and some areas of OKC may be fairly close. Though you can say that of any major city, hell its more danerous in Chicago, Detroit, ATL, Memphis etc than it is in Iraq or Afghan.

Fair enough evaluation. There is this idea that OU has a lot of experience, but that's really only in the trenches (which is important). The rest of the skill players are mostly freshmen and sophmores who are just really good. But getting owned in the trenches will make the other positions look even better.

I dont think WR talent alone would be the reason why you dont get blown out. Ttech had crabtree when they got blown out 65-21. OU's strength has been against the pass, leading a pass happy big 12 in pass D for the past couple years. So that ought to make for an interesting side story.

For OU on offense your biggest concern might be the run game. With massive and a deep Oline and 3 big strong and fast running backs, i wouldnt be surprised to see them put 230+ on the ground. Blake Bell man, that ex qb we are only discovering what impact he'll have. I bet he scores a td. and of course shepherd, you'll hear his name a lot. On defense, its the front 7 hands down. they are fast, they are everywhere, and they're pretty big. Watching them play this year will be a real treat. If your receivers are good enough to make life hard on OU's cbs then i'll be impressed . Big 12 passes a lot so I am sure they'll be up for the challenge.

I figured that we would be infested by now. I thought they would be flocking here to tell us how they were going to prove a point that the SEC ain't all that. Anyway have the networks made a decision as to when the game will start and which network yet?

I'm only here to discuss game day info. Just joined to put some insight on the tailgate thread.

But I see many people talking about the 88-5 record at home. Impressive, but we are 16-3 since the beginning of 2011. One home loss in 2011, 2 in 2012.

Im excited about the game for a few reasons. One because we have the opportunity to pull off an upset which is a huge task but it can happen and number two is the fact that OK's Fans seem like their not gonna be complete pricks like UGA's fans. A win would be huge and really push us into the season but I'm more concerned with our SEC schedule. This weeks game will really be beneficial to our young team whether we win or lose
