There were no advanced-level discussions. He did talk with Dave Hart, apparently (Gruden mentions Tirico, who left after 2015, so this could have been during search to replace Dooley). It sounds like he toyed with the idea of it but ultimately didn't want to leave MNF.

Regardless, the Grumors weren't concocted 100% out of thin air. Which is something.

Not sure I believe him. It’s obvious he was in tune with the fanbase’s fascination with him. He might have had a conversation with Hart but I have serious doubts some sort of offer was on the table. And I think all the 2017 grumors were BS.

I agree, I like Heupel better than Fulmer. Just saying we don't know what Gruden would have done

Oh I don't think an offer was ever on the table. Honestly, I am surprised it even went as far as him talking with Dave Hart.

I had just always assumed that the whole thing was 100% invented out of thin air...turns out that it was just highly exaggerated.

Gruden would have demanded a Jim Harbaugh salary and we wouldn’t have hired Conor Stallions, so 9-3 would be the best we could do.

It would have been a program ending nightmare after our run of coaches to then hire Gruden

We are all thankful with CJH, whom I believe is one of only a few men on earth who could right this program

Well, I have to admit that all the hype around Gruden coming to UT really filled up VN website years back. Sooooo much speculation and Grumors that it was kind of fun and, gave VN hope that (good) help was on the way.

If Gruden and wife packed their bags for UTK, we would have won a pile more games than we did. He had such a strong name back then that he could have pulled in a lot of very well trained coaches under him - probably many from the NFL.

Grudes is Coming.

Soon (saw his plane at TYS yesterday....)
