Where would this program be (Gruden)

Tennessee would have recruited well and won 9-10 games probably as a ceiling. It would be a traditional offense that would be a step back. Ultimately, Gruden would not do well when the NIL era started and would get fired. Too much of a disciplinarian, so kids would eventually want to transfer away.

After Kiffin left for Southern California, I thought that Mike Hamilton should have just let Kippy Brown be the interim coach for the 2010 season and let the program stabalize a bit before potentially start a coaching search depending on how Brown fared as a head coach in 2010.

According to Stephen Hargis of the Chattanooga News Times, he was considering it. Apparently he was sitting with a local area coach at lunch when Gruden called and asked said coach if he’d be interested in a position. So he was putting out feelers at least. That was after Dooley. The 2nd go around after Butch, no idea if he really was. He likes the attention according to Jimmy Hyams. Take that for what it’s worth.

I think he would have recruited well. Would he have won any championships? No idea. Probably would have gotten a NCAA investigation going.

That was the only fun we had back then.

He would have probably pulled a Jim H. Right the ship and bolt for the NFL again. Glad we have coach JH!
