Doesn’t Cotton have some obligation to take highest ranked G5 conference champion? If so I’d guess Tulane-Penn State.

UCF, who already beat them once in Nawlins

Yeah I would normally pull for Gus. Not this time. Also on a separate note, I think we are going to get to a point in the next few years where the Sun Belt winner will be the top G5 team. The conference is LOADED.

Since Bama and Tennessee are poised to be ranked next to each other, will be interesting to see if we get the nod… if so, we get the Sugar Bowl

If UCF were to beat Tulane for the AAC, then I will say UCF-Tennessee in the Cotton would be one of those poetic narrative sorts of things that selection committees always seem like they can’t help but pick.

If I understood the other poster correctly, the committee isn’t allowed contractually to do that. It’s more science than art.

Yeah true. It was more a tongue-in-cheek observation. Without seeing a single conference title game yet, right now I’ve got:

  1. Georgia
  2. Michigan
  3. TCU
  4. USC
  5. OSU (Oregon) rose
  6. Alabama (Kansas State) sugar
  7. Tennessee (Clemson) orange
  8. Penn State (Tulane) cotton

Okay. Tenn Clemson and then Cotton is ? PSU vs ND would be a cool old-school matchup.

No. The highest ranked Group of 5 Conference Champion has to get a spot in either the Cotton, Peach, or Fiesta Bowl. That’ll be either UCF or Tulane.

The opponent would probably be Penn State unless Oregon upsets USC (in which case, it’d be USC).
