Which Dooley recruit do you think has made an impact on Jones' team so far?

I'm still quite shocked on how bad Dooley and his staff recruited but there's some of his players that's actually made a impact on Jone's team. Which Dooley recruit do you think has made a surprise impact so far under Butch's system? IMO, I would have to pick Cameron Sutton. The kid played very well for a freshman and will only get better. What do you guys think?

All of them. Dooley hate and incompetence notwithstanding, if the boys didn't suit up we'd have to forfeit the games. Since they're all Vols no matter who recruited them, I'm in their corner, win, lose, or draw. Let Dooley stay gone, he isn't coming back. And just give our boys your unrestrained support. Butch's One Tennessee mantra is a good idea and should actually mean something to both fans and players. Thank You.

Lol I don't want him to come back and I wouldn't trade Butch Jones for any other coach in the world. It's the off season and I just thought I'd think of something to talk about. Thank you.

Some of Dooleys recruits wre pretty good: Malik Jackson, De Anthony Arnett, Curt Maggitt, Tiny, A.J. Johnson, Lane, Bray , Neal, Da Rick, Hunter, Rivera, Fulton, James, Stone, Sapp, Palardy, PIG, McCullers & Patterson.

All of the other recruits either never made it to campus, never played or left the program.

Understood and not targeting you specifically. It's the number of times the Dools has been dragged up. Your post to be honest is nowhere close to the viral, can't let go spite the too many post on VN. Just tired of seeing Dools posts. And you're welcome. :hi:

a fair amount of the people you named I attribute far more to Kiffin than to Dooley

Fergy's "potential"???

At the end of the day if the player does well its due to CBJ, if he doesn't it's due to Dooley's incompetence. Ie can't have anything to do with the crnt coaches taking over one of the most experienced OLs in the country, and making them look like crap. Nope...it's because Dooley cant recruit or the players were overrated. The VN Way!!

We have ur POV where u contribute some of it to Kiffin not Dooley (though some of those listed werent going to come under Kiffin) and the POV that another poster has that says CBJ had to recruit the likes of Sutton or he would have left??

Or ultimately give posi-credit surrounding UT the last fews to everyone but Dooley, and ALL the nega-credit to him??

Just wondering what the official determination on this topic should be...

Geez dude calm down with your Dooley man crush. He is gone and was a horrid coach, one of the worst in UT history. Our oline was highly overrated. Also it has become apparent that Tiny was dealing with some knee issues last year which greatly effected his performance.

Dragging Dooley up is like stepping into something in the yard and tracking it into the house. It takes more time getting the smell out than cleaning up the mess.

i tried to think of a serious answer to this question and i don't think a bigger indictment of the derek dooley era could be made.

there isn't anybody who's contribution will not be equaled and more likely exceeded.

Both recruiters are important. The way I look at it, if the recruiter could not have gotten that player without the work of the other coach, then I give more credit to the other coach. Most of Dooley's first class falls under this awning. I believe Butch could have gotten a few of the players Dooley had committed without Dooley's work.

I believe several of these players actually committed to Kiffin or were recruited by Kiffin and officially signed by Dooley.

Regardless, in time most if not all of those players are going to go down as memorable and beloved players in UT history.

I know that this was not what you asked about, but my point is that we as fans greatly lowered our expectations in terms of what "valuable contributions" were made, caused mostly by the epic fail that was Derek Dooley, but also the decade of decline at UT softened us up and sort of muddied up our ideas of what good football players look like.

Off the top of my head from that list, I recall Bray, Da'Rick, Hunter, James, and Palardy were coming here with Kiffin. Can't quite put my finger on others.
