Rick Barnes has brought in more 5 star talent in the last 4 years than our previous coaches brought in in the 15+ years prior to that. Of course Pearl had talent, but if he was bringing the 5 stars we've brought in the last few years do we honestly think they wouldn't have produced more? Cuonzo made the sweet 16 in year 3 when NOBODY expected them to get out of the first or second round.

Barnes has brought in elite level recruiting classes the last few years, but he has not been able to get much out of the NBA talent he has brought in. They all had moments but none of them were put in positions where they could thrive. Kennedy Chandler probably had the most success, but even he disappeared a lot. Julian Phillips js seeing that this year. He has elite talent, but he isnt able to do the things he does best most of the time because that isn't "the system".

Barnes is bringing in loads of talent, but he isn't utilizing it to its full potential and he has done that his entire career.

I think you guys play better without Savir Wheeler. I may not be right but I’ve seen a few games and he solos or goes rogue a lot. I see a lot of guy standing around when he starts dribbling. When they announced that today told my buddy that may be a bad thing for us. Reeves rally had a game. Vols forgot to show up except UP. 43 to 23 rebounds 10 missed layups basically gave the game away.
Not only would he have destroyed our half court offense but Vescovi and Ziegler would have had it much easier on offense. With Wheeler out we had huge guys guarding them. Plus him being out allowed Reeves, CJ and even Livingston many more opportunities.

This is what some of our fans have become- praising Cuonzo Martin to criticize Barnes. Just laughable.

Hint: Cuonzo had multiple pros and multiple 4/5 stars on that team. Also, Pearl had as many 5 stars on his Elite Eight team as Barnes does this year and just as many 4 stars.

We lost this game on the glass and Kentucky got to the line more often than Tennessee did.

Kentucky played better defense than I thought that they would.
UK played really smart and Cal scouted us well. They made Tennessee play exclusively in the halfcourt, didn't give us many open looks from 3, made us play deep into the **** clock on many possessions (thus limiting our possessions), and they dominated the glass. They controlled the tempo and made us play at the pace they wanted.

It didn't take a great scout to come up with that game plan. We've seen it before and we'll certainly see it again. Some teams won't have the horses to pull it off, but I guarantee you that the first team we face in the tournament that has enough athletes to play us like this will send us home.

Where else have we seen that scout? I've not seen any other team completely execute it against us. Even against Colrado and Arizona, we were able to do one of those things a passable level.

Even if you want to discount the scout as being an easy one, UK executed it very well.

You're arguing with the guy that said just expecting to make the NCAAT is "sad", then said our past 25 year history is good and used as "proof" while not grasping that over the past 25 years, making NCAAT is about the expectation that averages out.

I care, because Kentucky is not really a good loss this year. I think it hurts our shot at a one seed. One of our best teams ever, and one of Kentucky’s worst. It’s embarrassing.
This team isn’t even one of the best team Rick Barnes has had here. Both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 teams were better and last year’s team was as well. This is a good defensive team and that’s it. The offense and guard play is atrocious though

This was literally like the 2nd or 3rd game I've even cared to watch all year. No, it won't make me want to watch anymore. This team sucks and we got lucky. Calipari is over the hill. Not even happy about the win today cause it'll just give Calipari something to brag about moving forward when he deserves all the criticism deserved for the last few years.
Those of us who have been watching Tennessee-Kentucky basketball 50+ years knew that your Wilcats would play well yesterday; like a wounded animal. Vols missed too many layups, free throws, 3's, etc. KY defense played lights out.

Just going by this. Conference only. Although they probably jumped up with our terrible offensive performance today.

Ok…conference only…4 game sample size. They played Mizzou and Bama, who both have top 15 offenses. They are top 70 defensive efficiency overall. Mizzou, Vandy, USC, A&M are all much worse.

The Vols didn’t look that great against Vandy. Yesterday their tendency to have scoring droughts re-appeared . . . And they got owned on the glass. The upcoming game at Mississippi State is a fairly important game - they need to both play well . . . And get on track with Philips / Vescovi scoring the ball.

This is a good team . . . But not a great team because it lacks good PG play. And that’s a killer usually in the NCAA tourney. Having said that I think this team is capable of making the round of 16 . . . Depending on the matchups. But anything more than the round of 16 . . . Is hard to imagine.

You obviously have no idea of who and how talented that NCAA tourney roster was. He inherited talent here, but couldn’t make it gel until the last year.

Losses are going to happen.
As far as Barnes is concerned who are you going to hire to replace him. Barnes is bringing in the talent needed and this team is entertaining.
It is not mediocracy and we are knocking on the door.
This is the best overall team he has had since he has been at UTK.
The tournament is all about Seeding and Officiating. Even the best of teams have that moment.

These last two games have been sloppy by officials and totally inconsistent in their calls. I hate it but that is just the way it goes. We didn't capitalized on opportunities when we had the chance. It happens, so next up.

Nah. Best overall team doesn’t have a 5’9 PG and no one to back him up. Key is completely outclassed athletically out there as well which hurts because Vescovi is limited so playing them together can be a huge issue against talent like UK.

I care

Reality is
We lost a game to our biggest rival in basketball.

It happens.

look at the Duke UNC rivalry over the years, weird things happen and the most talented team does not always win

So Key is the reason we lost yesterday? I don't think so. Key has come in done what Barnes has ask him to do.

The team is solid. It had a flat game all around yesterday. On any given night you can blame a player for a loss. This was a team loss yesterday so accept it and move on.

They will learn from it and move on so it is time that we do as well. Not the end of the season no need to change coaches or adjust the lineup. Instead some fans just panic. They all played yesterday like they were stuck in the mud. It happens, Colorado and Kentucky. Arizona loss was obvious due to fouls.

No. Key is our backup PG and that's an issue when Zeigler struggles as he did yesterday.
