Who do Titans go after in the draft??

They need to draft a babysitter for Pac-Man to keep his butt out of trouble.

Titans will draft WR. Free agency hopefully will give us Clements

If Indy doesnt franchise Freeny, he should be a no brainer.

Safety position is fine, lets cut Thompson and go with the young guys.

Is this a "mark it down" or "SI On Campus agrees with me" situation that can be wagered?

Worth mentioning...

I once heard Jeff Fisher say that Adams always demands first round picks, and therefore money, go to skill position players.

Now maybe one could extrapolate that to include DEs, but clearly the owner likes to see the big draft money go on WRs RBs QBs DBs....

which is how you become the Detroit Lions.

Fair point.
The Titans have a better than average draft history though. They seem to know how to find the big guys that are lurking a little further down the draft. Detroit's brand of ineptitude is going to be hard to duplicate...

Last 10 first round draft picks.....

1996- Eddie George.
1997- Kenny Holmes (DE)
1998- Kevin Dyson
1999- Jevon Kearse
2000- Keith Bullock
2001- No pick
2002- Albert Haynesworth
2003- Andre Woolfok
2004- No Pick
2005- Pacman
2006- VY.

One linebacker and two corners in there. Not all skill players but mainly. I guess Pac could be considered a skill player. Damn what a waste Woolfolk has been.

I think the Titans are still in a position to take the best available athlete and not reach for a need. Either line would be a good place to start and I agree that a really good receiver or ten should be available in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Shoot, go back one more year and you'll have Steve McNair.

Is Kenny Holmes still in the league? Haven't heard from him in awhile...

Exactly, and probably a shutdown corner like Asante Samuel or Nate Clements.
I think Clements is the way to go. Samuel is probably a little better but someone is going to have to grossly overpay for him due to the number of DB's available and the ridiculous INT year he had.

I'd take a safety. It seems like Thompson is out of place a lot on crucial downs. If you get another good player back there with Chris Hope, the Titans will give up a lot fewer third down conversions.
Thompson is terrible. I to say it because I have pulled for him to come around but it just isn't going to happen. The guy just can't cover anyone. That being said I almost feel like a fast edge rushing DE is a higher priority than safety. KVB was held in check this year because he drew so much attention with no threat on the other end. A good pass rush is critical for a young defense, especially a young secondary. Another top DE creating some havoc would make the secondary look alot better.

My prediction is that they address defensive needs in free agency. Deon Grant has been mentioned at safety, and a DE free agent would be huge to take some pressure off of KVB. Laboy and Odom haven't stayed healthy or played as well as I think they should have, and I can't see the Titans using a first or second round pick on another D-lineman that could be disappointments. With over 40 mil in cap space, I'd expect the Titans to go after some bigger free agents. I wouldn't use high draft picks on corners and safeties because they take a couple of years to develop, and I think those are very hard positions to scout with certainty. I think they take a receiver, probably Jarrett, in the first round. After that, I still think they take another LB in the 2nd or 3rd round, then (in no particular order) look at DT, OG, WR again, and a RB to add some depth now that Brown is gone.

Brown is a free agent now correct? I wish we woulda traded him during the year and got somethin for him.
