Who do you think will replace Franklin at Vanderbilt?

Franklin has nuked Vandy. He has out Kiffined Kiffin.
It is going to be a tough sell to get someone to take over this dumpster fire. Take Chad Morris for instance, successful offensive coordinator looking for his first head coaching gig ( I assume ). Would you risk your coaching career on a team losing 18 seniors , a recruiting class that is falling apart, less than stellar fan support, less than stellar facilities, and in the most brutal football conference ?

Not to mention the increased expectations for a perennially crappy team.

SIAP, in reference to the AD in the coaching search.

So...they are looking for a doctor or lawyer (understanding of who we are and want to be) and not just a coach? You know where this is heading lol

My mind keeps going back to Dooley. He's a lawyer.

Has anyone thought about Jim Tressel (sp?) for the Vandy job? He's a heck of a coach & needs a job. I don't know the details about his 5 year show cause, but the NCAA should cut him some slack for the Vandy job & with his sweater vest & professor glasses he should fit right in at Vandy. What you think?

Adam Schefter
Colts OC Pep Hamilton is a candidate for the Vanderbilt HC job, according to multiple league sources.

The issue that Vandy will continually deal with - no matter what their fan base chooses to believe - is that they will never be a destination school. I can't imagine that university making the financial commitments and the academic sacrifices needed to be a top-tier SEC school in football. It would take a monumental sea change.

The academic apathy of recruits seems to be at an all-time high and growing. Far too many are majoring in eligibility. They don't want or need the standards of Vanderbilt, and Vanderbilt shouldn't want them.

If your interest is in the spot light of big-time college football, do you want to play seven games each year in front of 100,000 people or 40,000?

Any coach who can recruit despite these circumstances and win to the level of Franklin is going to be noticed, courted and hired by a program with more money and more bling.

They are going to continue to churn through coaches every 3-4 years unless they just decide that a team that averages around .500 and lands a second or third level bowl fairly often is perfectly okay. They can't catch the best and brightest up-and-comer over and over again. No one can.

Otherwise coaches that fail are going to be let go. Coaches that succeed are going to let Vandy go.

It must really be unexciting to accept the fact that the one hope for stability lies in mediocrity.

I wonder if a well-known coordinator like Chad Morris or Pat Narduzzi would take the job? I doubt it.. seems like there's nowhere to go but down at Vanderbilt right now. Then again... being a lower-level SEC team opens the door for a lot of upsets, which make coaches look good. Therefore, Vandy is a great opportunity for someone who's great with X's and O's.

If I'm Vanderbilt, I'd ride my strength (defense) and hire a promising DC who's looking for an opportunity move up to head coach... Someone like Pat Narduzzi, Justin Wilcox, Kirby Smart, Jeremy Pruitt, or Bud Foster.
I personally wonder why anyone would give a rats behind about candy or start a thread about them!!! So sick of candy threads on this site ! Sorry I didn't really mean to poop all over this thread

you might laugh, but seriously Lane Kiffin would be a very good Offensive mind and has connections in the SouthEast. Vandy could do worse than Coach K.. Other guys on the list are just jokes, but Kiffin could work his system there to keep Vandy somewhat competitive in the middle of the
SEC East.

Vandy. Kiffin's other dream job.

Personally, I hope it's Hamilton because Hamilton has already become a dirty word on this site.

I for one hope they go after Coach Kline with the South Central Louisiana State Mud Dogs....

Am I crazy to think their AD enjoys the attention and is doing something similar to what Franklin did, only with coaches' names rather than potential jobs?

I got that impression off of him last week with his odd, tone deaf radio appearances.
