Nick Saban. No Super Bowls 15-17 nfl record. Obviously wouldn't be a good college coach.

well lets look at that
Nick Saban has a 158-55-1, .741 W-L% record in collage football.

Gruden has a 0% winning record as a collage football head coach and a lifetime winning percentage of .540 in the nfl.

there is a world of difference between the two and absolutely nothing to suggest that Gruden would be a successful collage head Coach much less be worth the $50 million for ten years that people wanted to pay him.

We got a collage head coach that has had proven success who brings with him a staff that has been with him for years, this is a huge plus in my book.

I don't get why some people (generally, uninformed people) act like the college game and the NFL are somehow "separate but equal." They're not. NFL schemes are about 1000000x more complicated and there's a lot more parity.

Why do you think college coaches generally suck in the NFL? It's not because it's "just different"; it's a giant step up schematically, and you can't hide behind huge talent advantages anymore.

As long as he can recruit, any halfway decent NFL coach would dominate the college ranks. And recruiting would most certainly not be an issue with Jon Gruden.

(I almost said "uninformed people who can't even spell college, but that's a low blow. Either way, the notion that Jones is a "better college head coach" because he's "more proven" than a guy who's won a championship at the highest level is ridiculous.)

Not one person saying Butch is better than Gruden would actually take Butch if given the choice. We didn't get the big fish but got a decent coach and we will all just have to wait and see if he is up to the task.

Folks here's one that should boil your blood.. We as the Vol Nation ran a man out on a rail with a 152-52 record and a 79.04% winning record who was and is VFL. I am happy that we got CBJ and I am very hopeful for the future but I believe we brought the pain of the recent past on ourselves.

Well

Thigpen after 4-Star linebacker

Trey Johnson was committed to Auburn until this past November when he broke off his pledge because of the firing of Gene Chizik and the entire Tiger coaching staff. One of those former Auburn coaches is now at Tennessee, Tommy Thigpen, and has put Tennessee in the race for the four-star linebacker

The results of this poll show that the fanbase's delusions of grandeur couldn't even be extinguished by the Dooley disaster.

Man, I wish this were a public poll, so we could identify the truly delusional on here. Probably cross references effectively with those who thought Dooley had a bright future and Mike Hamilton was a clever negotiator.

You're right. I should have made it a public poll. The discussions would have been heated, I'm sure.

Arkansas' staff so far

Offense:
Jim Chaney OC/QBs
Sam Pittman OL
George McDonald WR
Joel Thomas RBs
? TEs

Defense:
Chris Ash DC
Charlie Partridge DL
Taver Johnson DBs
Randy Shannon(what we are hearing as of today)LBs

Some really good recruiting/on the field results mix right their.

Some are thinking Tim Horton may end up staying at the TE position but that is very uncertain.
