Who is the better Manning?

and saturday was a pro bowler 5 times who earned his way onto the field.

Yes, being a first rounder means something. It means you were thought to be talented enough to be selected before 220+ other individuals.

And yeah i guess long passes to pearless in the nc never happened.

fyp

so it was Tee that led us to victory over UF? Please

Saturday was not an example of surrounding a player with the best talentas you were trying so hard to illustrate. Also just saying "he was a first rounder" means very little

Of course it means little when it does not fit your losing argument.

But the truth of the matter is that it does mean something and it contradicts all the moronic statements like "he was never surrounded with talent".

And people are badmouthing Bill Polian calling him an idiot. The man has been the GM for over 6 teams that have made the superbowl.

Idiots defend Peyton at all costs.

All-time Peyton

right now Eli.

Put Peyton on a team with a solid ground game, good defense, & good coaching like say the Seattle Seahawks and see what happens

People remember the teams and players who won championships and especially multiple times.

This isn't really true. So you think your kids/grandkids (don't know how old you are) will remember Trent Dilfer, but won't know who Dan Marino was?

People remember great players.

No. It is clear that you have no clue...You described a bad defense which has an offense that has to score many points to make up for their lack of impact....

Lmao.

What I described was the colts formula for success. You are just too dense to understand it.

And lack of impact? Lmao ok whatever. I guess Freeney's record run to 100 sacks had no impact.

Like I already said they built that defense to hold the leads that Manning got for them. They stopped the run with their offense by scoring points and letting their D pin their ears back and rush the passer almoat exclusively.

Who cares in you run the ball when you are down 14-21 points in the second half.

Dwight Freeney? That's all you got? Even the worst defenses have a great player, even the Colts. A defense that is built to hold on to a big lead, a la Colts, Patriots, and ok.st. are NOT good defenses. Put peyton with the Ravens and he has multiple rings.

You don't sit around at night and talk about the great Doug Williams, Jim McMahon, and Mark Rypien?

Freeney, Mathis, Sanders ,June, Belthea etc they have had many good defenders over the years

Your point about the Ravens is wrong. They never had the Talent on O the colts did nor could they afford all those defenders with Peyton tying up about 20 million of the cap himself.

that still doesnt make those players any better than those who havent won a superbowl or less superbowls.....
Dan Marino and Dan Fouts own a lot of passing records, but they are not remembered for their championships. The guys with multiple championships are the guys remembered the most and remembered most fondly.

Otto Graham is not remembered for his passing records. He is remembered for his leadership and willing his team to championships. The same goes for Brady, Eli, Montana, and Ben Roethlesberger.

Since everyone always talks championships, Eli. 2 is better than 1, right?

So in other words, Eli is not only better than Peyton, but also Marino, Tarkenton, Fouts, Moon, Namath, Favre, and Steve Young. I don't think so, brother. To me, it puts him more in the category of Bob Greise. A good QB that parlayed two super bowl rings into the hall of fame. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you. But let's get some perspective.

Eli seems to be now.But Peyton over the long haul has been better.Indy always been a marginal defensive team

better in what?? current or historical?

In some things Eli is better, and in others, Peyton.

Eli has more rings. I think if you polled NFL players, Peyon wins out, although Eli is now in the Hall of Fame with this win.

Were he to have a career ending injury next season, he's not in. He has to play more seasons now and have some relative success. Up until this season, Eli has been fairly inconsistent and inaccurate at times. Simply winning two Super Bowls doesn't get him in the HOF.

All that being said, he still hasn't been in as good as Peyton

This.

Mike & Mike said that Peyton is the 5th, 6th or 7th best QB.

I can only think of one I'd for sure take over him and that's Joe Montana. Who are the others? Dan Marino? Steve Young? I could see taking those two over him if you had a choice. I'd probably stop there even though Peyton hasn't played the best in the playoffs. His overall work is amazing. But yeah... 7th? That's dumb. I would not put Favre, Elway, Aikman or Roethlisberger above him. I might put Brady above him if it weren't for spygate but I'm on the side that questions how many Super Bowls they win without doing what they did. They did only win all three of them by three points and that doesn't include the playoff games they won to get there. Maybe they don't even make it to the Super Bowl without spygate.

Where would you guys rank Peyton?

1. Montana
2. Elway
3. Marino
4. Unitas
5. Brady
6. Peyton

Spygate shouldn't even come into play when judging Brady.

Why?

If he knew when defenses were blitzing, where the blitzes were coming from, when they were playing man and when they were playing zone... why shouldn't that factor into my opinion of Brady? To some extent they knew what plays other teams were running. That's definitely an advantage and should allow any QB to put up better numbers. Even if it's only five plays a game, that's still five plays you should be able to take advantage of them in a big way. It's not just him getting helped out by knowing the play calling. That helps his personal numbers but also, the defense knowing also helped him win games by knowing when the other team is passing and running. It's a lot easier to stuff someone if you know it's a run.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. It factors into my view of the Patriots and Brady. I know a lot of other fans feel the same way.

Better situation? A place where Tiki Barber and friends make fun of you to the media? A place where your head coach even after winning the superbowl is on the hotseat in week 8 of the regular season? He never had a Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Dallas Clark combo.

No, but he has a defense. It's hard to always outscore everybody because your D can't stop anyone.
