I would’ve had more respect for him if he decided to publicly resign after his apology. This apology is only coming out as a requirement of his punishment. Embarrassing. He will forever be known as Juwan Coward to me.Took a day and a half to reflect and realize he should apologize? That makes it even worse tbh
That’s just after the fact rationalizing. There’s nothing Gard did which even remotely warrants Howard’s “reaction”. It was a light “hey let’s discuss” touch, which Howard responded by grabbing Gard’s shirt in his fist. This is entirely on Howard.Could have been avoided had Wisc. Coach moved on explained it in the press conference, instead he grabbed his arm to get his attention. Not saying what Howard did was right but could have been avoided if the Wis. coach moves on.

I'm not disagreeing, but I'd file that in the category of "read the room" and talk later. Once Howard made it clear "don't f'n touch me" you just walk away. That’s just after the fact rationalizing. Gard is entirely blameless for Howard slapping his assistant, and for the ensuing scuffle. Nothing Gard did should ever provoke such a response. It’s not entirely on Howard.
Howard’s reaction to Gard grabbing his arm is on Howard, as it was over the top, but Gard is not blameless here. He played a role in escalating the situation.
agree to disagree. The professional side works both ways. A coach walks by you, they want nothing to do with the situation but once you engage that person by stopping them to get their attention then "professionalism" is gone. I'm not siding with Howard or Gard, but the situation could have been avoided by both sides.Uh yeah… nothing wrong with talking to the other coach after the game. You’re professionals. But that’s kind of the problem. Howard isn’t a professional. This isn’t a rec league game
Juwan Coward asked Gard to take his hands off him, which Gard did and then police stepped in and appeared like it was going to calm down. However, Coward continued running his mouth and escalating further. This is 100% on Coward. Dude needs anger management as part of his punishment too.Penny. He cost us 30K in travel budget by his last minute Covid excuse. Howard reacted after he tried to walk away and Gard grabbed him and it escalated from there.
Don't put your hands on someone who is avoiding confrontation. Like I said previously, state your case in the press conference and move on.Juwan Coward asked Gard to take his hands off him, which Gard did and then police stepped in and appeared like it was going to calm down. He took his hands off him after he told him to. What more do you want? Coward is a person that needs mental help. He should think about what his grandmother that raised him would have thought about his actions. Not only did he assault someone, but it caused his players to join in too. He incited violence for no reason.Don't put your hands on someone who is avoiding confrontation. Like I said previously, state your case in the press conference and move on.
Don't put your hands on someone that's the lesson. Had Gard not put his hands on Howard then it's on Howard. But he did and it escalated after that.He took his hands off him after he told him to.
