Who should run for President in 2012?

And this is particularly so of the very people he would be trying to get to vote for him in terms of the Evangelicals.

I think Palin will almost surely run. I don't think she sees what her being front and center is doing to the Republican party and how divisive it might be for her to run. Actually, I think she gets a sense of it, but views it as a moral duty to run and she thinks she can win. If she does run, its going to open some wounds with the regular structure that opted for McCain and has had to deal with the post-election blame game between their operatives. Not pretty.

McCain is done.

Romney could run and be effective IF the economy has tanked. But the Mormon issue is significant. Plus, the likelihood is that the economy will be in rebound mode at that point (just naturally, not giving anyone particular credit for it).

Jindahl, eh, he might get the nomination trying to ride the line between fiscal conservative and social moderate, but its unlikely he will win if the economy is at least on the upswing.

Face it, you are likely to have 8 full years of Obama.

3 years ago did you know who obama was? did anyone know who clinton was 3 years before he got elected? my guess is we see someone out of left field. palin has zero chance of winning the nomination as much as the left would love it. trust me.

For the sake of this country I hope another Bush doesn't think about running for office. Bush did more damage to the conservative movement's credibility and it's only real outlet (the Republican party). I don't place the blame squarely on him, but it was his seudo socialist ideals, and the weak kneed attitudes of the "moderates" that have caused all this mess to spiral out of control.

I think a Romney would be great, but I'm not opposed to a Sarah Palin. The only thing that bothers me, is the fact that I think most people will be just looking at her social views, and frankly that needs to be on the bottom of our lists. By 2012 we will have a huge hole to dig ourselves out of from over reaching federal policies to worry about social issues (which really mostly should be in the hands of the states in the first place).

you say this in light of what he has done to date?

I don't think there is any prayer of him lasting beyond 4 years unless he simply takes a back seat for the next several years and stays out of the spotlight. What's the likelihood of that? He can't withstand the scrutiny of his record actually dispelling all of his lies.

The country is ripe for a third party to really gain some traction. I don't think the Rs are going to be able to put anyone out there that is worth a damn anymore than the Ds will. Not that that is any different from the last few elections, but if the economy doesn't turn around in 4 years, people will be fed up.

Once the economy turns, and it will, the spotlight on the government as the world's largest owner of private businesses is going to begin raising some very ugly and interesting questions.

We need to seriously mark this thread. Then when 2012 does roll around we will have some entertainment for those interested.

Bob Corker might be in the running by then.

the mormon thing will hurt romney more than people think. a lot of america still sees it as a bit of a cult.
We actually agree on something, you can add my mom to that list of people who would be turned off in her book if you are not protestant your soul is in serious trouble including mine but she is holding out hope I'll change my evil ways she is a good woman though.:naughty:

But someone with a last name that rhymes with Osama should. I'd vote for Jeb over Obama anyday! Osama Bin Laden and Obama Biden just sound way to much alike.

Some don't have a shot, but a few to watch for.

Tim Pawlenty
Meg Whitman
Mitt Romney
Bobby Jindal
Paul Ryan
Sarah Palin
Fred Thompson
Eric Cantor
Ron Paul (Only in 2012, if he doesn't, Gary E. Johnson will get a boost in support)
Gary E. Johnson
Charlie Crist
Newt Gingrich

I'd say Romney, Palin, Jindal, Paul, and Gingrich are the favorites with Romney in the lead. JMO.

LG = A day late and a dollar short.

Although, he probably heard that on Olbermann or Maddow last night.

Jeb Bush has a worse shot of becoming POTUS than some guy that advocates state control of private enterprises, pushes "equality", and thinks America has been nothing but a huge mistake. Oh wait, his chances are legitimate then.

I call BS on Christ...the guy has royal screwed Florida with the everglades deal, and just does not have the personality for a presidential run.
