His stock has never been higher and he has to take advantage of it.Huge. Didn’t think he would leave Washington.
Wasn't Harsin Mormon? Idaho has a significant Mormon population. I have wondered if that was not a problem for him. Not that anyone cared whether he Mormon or not, but culturally may have posed problems. DeBoer may not be, but he will be coming from a radically different culture from the Southeast.Kiffin. And he is an offense first type guy like DeBoer
I’m honestly not sure about Harsin. I just know from assistants I’ve talked to that think the difference is huge.Wasn't Harsin Mormon? Idaho has a significant Mormon population. Obviously he is a very good coach. But can he adapt to this? Kelly seems to be having issues, but on the other hand the GOAT was not a southerner. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out.
… but some serious questions as a recruiter. This last year’s Washington team won close games with high-end QB/WR talent, mid-level defense, and super seniors mostly recruited by previous coaches. The roster reset coming to Washington is going to be brutal. But DeBoer knows ball.DeBoer has one heck of a record as a head coach.
Gotta wonder how long it will be before he questions his own sanity for jumping into the deep end on this one. Not sure what he was making at UW, but I'd have leveraged the interest for a raise and stayed put. No way I touch the bama job right after Saban leaves. You cannot win enough. Mistake on his part IMO.Huge. Didn’t think he would leave Washington.
We shall, see but I am more comfortable with him there than I am Kiffin. Downside is, SEC has yet another big time coach. Ole Miss would not have drawn that caliber of a coach I don’t think.Gotta wonder how long it will be before he questions his own sanity for jumping into the deep end on this one. With what Saban has done, I think bama will continue being bama with any decent coach. What I'd like to avoid is UF getting off the mat any sooner than necessary. Nah, prefer to avoid that pairing. We shall, see but I am more comfortable with him there than I am Kiffin. Downside is, SEC has yet another big time coach. Yeah definitely surprised Napier is still around, and that is fine by me. What Saban has done with the program and their brand is definitely sustainable for the foreseeable future, but I I’m not sure every coach could do what he did with what he had last season. He is also the master at 2nd half adjustments. Recruiting? Sure. My hope is for a slight drop off at Bama and a continued improvement on our endWith what Saban has done, I think bama will continue being bama with any decent coach. Well, let's not give them too much credit. Saban is 72 after all. Plus this new NIL/portal era clearly isn't something he embraces. Any AD worth his salt would see the writing on the wall and have a top 5 list of candidates that they'd turn to as a parachute. Sickens me to say it, but uga comes out on top with this one. It was suggested before, but it's crystal clear now. UGA is the king of college football. What a revolting development. What's sad is it only took Bama 2-3 days to get their coach...BUT Grudemonium 2012 & 2017 were momentous times on VolNation!
and there are absolutely no hold ups to taking the Bama job except for following the GOAT.Well, let's not give them too much credit. Saban is 72 after all.
