Who takes over at Alabama?

Gotta be honest....in today's NIL world, the game is different. It's no longer a game of "development". It's a game for mercenaries. This is Kiffin's world now. He's THE perfect coach for this NIL era. He might be scum, but this dude is as happy as a pig in slop with how college football functions today. If there's one guy out there who wouldn't shy away from following a legend like Saban, it's Kiffin. Given the bama history with the "rules", he's the perfect fit at the perfect time for the bama clan.
If he get's the job, I promise the bus won't leave him this go around.

They probably come at a good price, but Farmer Fran may remind them too much of Mike Price.

It can. Bob Stoops was still very involved with the OU program after he "retired" and turned it over to Riley. Even if he wasn't making decisions, there still was a cloud that hung over the program.

I think that's why Mike Stoops lasted as long as he did before Lincoln finally let him go.

Stoops isn't the control freak Saban is. 2 different situations!

Close friend of mine who runs in college football circles - not a public figure so nobody would know him - tells me Saban is retiring at the end of the season. I trust him as he doesn’t share these types of things without solid info.

When it happens, who do you think Bama goes after? Dabo? Sarkisian? Someone else with SEC experience like Lane Kiffin or Dan Lanning? Brent Venables? Or do they go the NFL route?
Kiffin. It doesn’t make sense for any of those coaches to leave the schools they are anlready at. Sarkinsan has already said he wants to stay at Texas.

Norvell isn’t listed here but has been by some. He just took a 10 million dollar per year deal. I had him second most likely and I wouldn’t be surprised if this bump in pay followed Bama reaching out to him.

It's not Dabo. He makes almost 11 mil now, what's his incentive?
And he is in a much weaker conference. I don’t think he has the same success at Bama. Albeit, he has beaten them twice I think. That said, they haven’t been the same since his OC and DC left for HC positions. Side note, Random side note. I can see him trying to pull Elliott back if he has another really bad year at VA.

Probably the safest hire.
I could see them hiring Dabo, but I think that’s a bad move and they watch Kiffin beat him. Kiffin is the most likely to keep what Saban had going if not take it to another level. Dabo will do well, but he will not do what Kiffin could do at the same program. They have a choice. Go with the guy they like better and be very good. Or go with the guy they don’t like and continue to be great if not better. I think the Dabo hire would indicate soft leadership at Bama. Let’s face it, Saban was a bit abrasive in the beginning and wasn’t received so well until he began winning a LOT.

Ryans would be one I don't want to see there.
There would be some learning curve with adapting to college game and recruiting. The question would be how much Saban is involved in a mentoring capacity to offset it.

After Deboer, I don't know who would be on the list. Rees, Dabo, Kiffin? Man, that would make this offseason almost more fun than the actual season. The meltdowns and drama would be awesome.

I actually heard from someone they Pete Carol is not staying in Seattle as an advisor. Would Bama consider him? Can’t say it was from a reliable coach. But some of these older guys can coach forever and know their kids better.

He is as old as Saban. Would be defending retirement issues every year in recruiting.
