Who we drop and who we get for our #1 class (merged)

The problem I, as an unbiased poster, have with this list is that it is almost the best case scenario. You are pretty much giving UT the major 50-50 battles (guys like Green and Luc are 50-50 for UT right now) while also giving UT a couple of guys (Dyer, Christian Jones, Morgan Moses, etc) that are sort of long-shots.

I think when making a mock class you have to assume you don't get everyone you target because that is always the case. No team ever gets all of their recruiting targets.
I appreciate the "unbiased" nature of your posts, but do you really think we don't understand this? If the answer is yes, you should probably just be biased.

I posted before about Bruce Irvin, a guy who I loved but who James Choy did not tutor enough. Arizona State pointed out he could not get in to UT academically and so they took him from us...

I have also posted before about who we do not finish with from our current class. I think this will happen in different ways.

Marques Pair will be a guy who South Carolina fans try to rub in our face if he "decommits" from us and chooses them. Then the story will come out when he has bulked up and is a junior about how bad he wants to beat us because we told him to look around when we had the stud OL cascade of 09.

Risean Broussard will end up doing a sign and place with Ole Miss or a LA school due to grades. Frank Wilson has done good work for 2011, but just flat out stunk with Ed O in that region for 2010 so far. Maybe D Robinson gets credited to him and he redeems himself somewhat, but so far it has not been awesome.

Ralph Williams
Grades. Heads to Ole Miss who can afford to sign and place.

Delvin Jones
Why he will not be a stud TE for us I do not know...makes me sad for a minute, then I think of who the staff must have coming in their corner to let him think about taking a look around Miami.

J.C. Copeland. Guy is good, problem is that we are still in it for some great...if we pick up Chris Martin, or Lemonier, or T.J. Stripling he is gone. Those are big ifs, but that is how it could shake out.

The staff is very high on Pair and loves Jones. I'm not sure where you are getting your info from about telling them to look around. It's false.

Haha Mike, Are you hoping that if you put #1 Class in every thread you make it will happen? :)

Nah hes going for the #1 redundant poster award. Its just another way for him to start yet another who do we get thread just a different name in the title.

I am thinking if we had Palardy now, we would damn sure be showing up in Tuscaloosa wearing the orange jerseys.:)

Wow, that would be a great class no doubt and even if it is not "rated" #1 it would more than fill big depth issues that we have. At the end of the day that is the ultimate goal.

I think we miss out on a couple of these guys but we also pick up or keep a couple that aren't bad...Here is my 2 cents for what its worth.

I like what you have for our OL with Cullen, Jawuan James, Chaz Green, Fulton, and Jose Jose. I have said this several times but I think Pair will be a Vol. He really impressed Kiffin & Co. at the camp this summer and he continues to move up in his ratings and rankings. At 6'6" and 255 lbs he has a good frame and can easily bulk up for our OL. And I think the visit to see him this past week from our staff shows they are committed to him. I also think we pick up at least one maybe even 2 more OL out of Robinson, Arie Kouandjio, Moses, or Stone and any of them would be great.

I also think that Demarco Cobbs will be a huge contributor in the future with the Vols. His size and speed will cause so many mismatches if he plays WR it will be sick, but after reading what Sab has posted about him several times I think he will make the switch to D and if he does, oh good Lord, I can't wait to see him meet some FL or Bama player over the middle. I also think Meline ends up a DB and with his 6'2 frame and 4.4 speed would be more than capable to match up with anyone.

I do have a question about our TE situation. If Dakota Mosley comes in for TE with Michael Dyer what will happen with Delvin Jones? I posted back and forth with Sab about weather he would stay and be DE or TE. He is looking around right now but in the end I think D. Jones stays and will end up being a TE for us. He has said in numerous interviews that he doesn't care what position he plays but wants to play early. If we snag another DE in addition to J. Smith and Corey Miller for your #18 slot like T.J. Stripling or even if we don't and hold on to J.C. Copeland, D. Jones will probably go to TE for us because of depth issues. Plus he is big at 6'6" 230 lbs and very, very fast for his size. I could see us using him as in some sort of hybrid TE role. If Dakota Mosley comes in and we get Dyer then it would be well worth it if we lost D. Jones IMO, but would it still be worth it to get Mosley at TE, lose out on Dyer and would D. Jones head elsewhere if this happens?

No matter what happens, I think it is going to be an unbelievable class because this staff is unbelievable and isn’t afraid to go after anyone. The whole process will be awesome to witness.

Palady is a freak. I watched him on TV and he couldn't keep his kickoffs in the stadium. His kickoffs appeared to be the equivalent of 70 yard field goals even with the 5 yard difference for high school. He will kick a few 60 yarders in my opinion for the vols but his main value will be on kickoffs where he will be worth 20 yards of field position. He appears also to be a great punter and amazingly our kick coverage teams will improve dramatically next year as we transition over to Palady.

We should all say bye-bye to Lincoln and Cunningham!

I'm PUMPED about having Cobbs. Kid sounds like a freak. What is the reasons he would switch to D. His offensive skills sound amazing.

His size, speed, ability, and instinct as a WR is sick but just imagine what he could do on D. We have some great WR as freshmen and more coming in with this class so the need is a little different. He already plays on both D and O right now in HS so it wouldn't be a hard switch to make. Plus I think Monte wanted him...

If I knew it was that easy I would just make it my signature :)

I just want some credit for believing this staff.

I am surprised after last years finish that so many cannot see us passing Texas and PSU and UF.

Fail like your avatar when you post with a girl who would never date you?

I do not know every single person from our current class who will not end up a part of it.
I think this covers almost everyone who we may lose if you add Pat Harris to the original group.

I do not think there is any way we take Dakota Mosley unless he is a package with Dyer.

I also want Delvin Jones to stay, it just seemed like committed without thinking to hard about it and I hear rumors that he may want to stay home and be a Hurricane. I do not think the staff is pushing that, I just think it is happening.

He didn't really assume we got everyone we targeted. We're targeting the guys he listed under RB's, WR's, and DB's and he listed a grouping of those targets. Then said we're likely to land at least one out of each category. That's obviously not landing everyone you target.

No, he gave you guys all the 50-50 type of battles you are in and also a few long-shots. That is the best case scenario for a given recruiting class. Odds are that you won't win every 50-50 battle and odds are that you don't get multiple "surprises".

Understandable but I hope not...

Dude...we get the point.

Just when I start to think you have something tangible to offer, you post yet another "my prediction" thread. Seriously...update one of the other dozen or so you started. You've got 2 thread started in the last 24 hrs that are basically the same thing.

You're not LV, Sab, JMVA or anyone else who people look at as a go-to guy on recruiting. Just enjoy this forum without cramming all this down our throats.
