who will be uts next committment?

We will most likely recruit over him next year. Or i hope we do.

That's true, but Rettig will be a guy that gets a lot of tutelage. I hope he can handle it, I'm not sure the staff thinks he can, but he will have to come along quickly. He will be relied on early in his career. Even if we get an all-star next year, expecting him to start and do well as a freshman isn't realistic.

Rettig is a smart guy by all reports what are you referring to in his ability to handle it? Scroggins can't start and do well as a freshmen either. Statistics show that freshmen almost never do well at QB. Whoever we get here is going to be a back up first year or we are in trouble. Stephens or Lamaison developing well enough to manage a game is our hope. Can you tell me what true freshmen played well at QB? I am sure there is one cannot remember though. Manning was not very good he showed promise but not good. Stafford not good. I mean who is there? And in a major conference not like a guy who killed it in the WAC as a freshmen.

Pryor was solid. UF would not have won the natl cship without Tebow, but I don't guess he is a valid guy since he didn't even start...

You're not making any sense. That's what I am talking about. We can't expect any QB to come in and immediately contribute. Everything you posted just backs up my point. You really make no sense sometimes. If you agree with what I'm saying, all you have to do is say it.

Pryor was horrible as a passer. Awful--no words to describe how sad that statement was. My best friend is a Ohio State fan and would say the same. If he was in the SEC they may not have gone to a bowl. He could run the ball and that was it. He had a great line and WRs and still could not get it done. He was managed well though. In the big games though he had to throw a little and it was ugly. Sure when playing purdont or a lower level team he could get some numbers but that is a WAC team at this point. Maybe Marve can change that. Now I expect him to get better but hey that is what happens when you start a freshmen at QB.

Pryor had about 1300 yards in 13 games that is 100 yards a game. His most attempts were 25 in the PSU game he had 0 TDs and 1 INT and they lost. Also, he was not the starter all year so he in some ways does not count.

So that is a fail--any other ideas? I really want to know if there is one.

Oh, and Mustain went 8-0 in the SEC as a true freshman starter in the SEC. I know he had a ridiculous group of RBs, but so will the next QB at UT...

Agree with what that the sky is falling? I thought you were saying in some of our post that Scroggins can come in and help right away. Also, you said Rettig cannot handle or maybe he cannot handle a lot of stuff being thrown at him. I mean he has a 3.6 so unless you can show me a low ACT or something it seems he is a smart guy. But saying I don't make sense I guess was easier then answering that. Go relax. This will be over soon. :eek:k:

Yeah, thought of him but he got benched and never got to play the better teams. Who knows what would of happened. That was a very strange situation. Now he cannot get on the field at USC.

He was the QB when Arkansas won at #2 Auburn but I have no clue what happened with the Casey Dick situation. But Mustain is the 3rd stringer at USC, Malzahn is at Auburn, Nutt is at Ole Miss, and Casey Dick is flipping cheeseburgers somewhere so something went wrong...

And Scroggins may be with Mustain...

The next QB at UT will not have an offensive line that is half as talented as the Razorbacks had in 2006.

Clausen and Ainge did pretty well as freshmen. Didn't have to look too hard. Chad Henne too although he did have Braylon Edwards.

Clausen did not start off the year as the starter. He started the last 6 games and the Bowl. But yes he did well in most of those games. If you think about our schedule though that means Florida and UGA were already out of the picture. It was the weaker part of out schedule. And in the cotton bowl he was not that good. I cannot remember how good Bama was back then but that was his first start.

Ainge started 6 games as a freshmen and played in 9. He hurt his shoulder and missed the last 4. I would say he is a better example. He game of the bench and led us to victory against UF. No Doubt this is an example but to bad he had a glass jaw and could not finish it off.

Two good examples though of about the best we can hope for. Although, I would say the teams Casey and Ainge played on were more talented realtive to who they are playing. And without a doubt had better lines for pass blocking. I would say Ainge satisfies my query and do not agree with Casey though.

Chad Henne played in the Big Ten which = fail but yes his numbers are eye popping for a freshmen.

It's been a couple of weeks since our last commit (Palardy). Are there any kids who are leaning hard to UT and expected to commit in the near term (i.e., next couple of weeks)?

f'n A can we get a commitment already....SC and Vandy are getting them left and right...not scrubs either...we are moving so slow....maybe this staff is waiting until we play some games and then try to sell a few things offensively...but what if crompton comes out throwing worm burners again....will be an ever harder sell then

I know our last commitment was Palardy and that was a few weeks ago but dude chill out. I think our staffs doin the best they can right now. JS would be a huge pick up and help us pick up a ton of offensive commitments but until we actually find a QB and our staff can sell the recruits on him then the offense will take time to build. I think right now we are in great shape on defense and we are in the running for a ton of recruits even on offense. And even the recruits that have committed to other schools arent a solid lock yet anything can happen till they sign their LOI.So until then we just need the staff to do their job and trust in the fact that we will have a great signing class.
