Who will replace Urban at UF? (Merged) (Fulmer to Florida)

With Dungy's players? It's the NFL. He didn't recruit those players. Weak argument.

WHen you say at a place like Miami, are just being bias or do you truly believe that? Cause Miami can get the top recruits just as well as anyone.

You said look at the past 2-3 recruiting cycles, hell, go back to 2007. They are top every year besides last year when they where an awful #13. Number #1 in 2008.

If a hack like Randy Shannon can do that, I beleive that Gruden ( and the very good staff that he would assemble ) would do very well too.

Miami isn't as a bad a school as you might want to think.

Randy Shannon was a hack of a football coach, but a very good recruiter....he was black Zook minus the tard chromosome.

When I think of Miami's football program....TODAY, not the 80s or early 90s....I see a program that has little money, facilities and fan support to attract an elite coach, unless that coach is willing to take less $$$ than the market rate at other "top" programs. I see a program that has struggled greatly to become relevant in the irrelevant ACC. I see a program that has lost some very good talent out of their back yard to FSU and UF recently. I see a program on par with USF, not FSU or UF.

You can paint the beautiful picture of South Beach and everything the city of Miami has to offer, but once you detach the city from the football program, and what the FOOTBALL PROGRAM has to offer a top flight coach, UMiami doesn't measure up to its in-state rivals.

Even in the 80s they had no fan support. In the 85 Sugar Bowl I asked one of their fans why so few where there. Their response was they were waiting for the next month because the Dolphins might be in the Super Bowl.

I agree on the money, facilities and fan support. Miami is a horrible sports town ( take a look at Heat home games, it's laughable ).

I'm sure they have lost plenty of recruits from their area...still yet, past classes ( take them for what they are worth ) show that they can still pull good to great classes.

I'm not saying that is is an amazing job that is on par with Florida or anything like that.

All I'm saying is that I beleive that Gruden would do very well there, as I think that he would practically anywhere.

Well......lets start with the fact he hasnt coached in the college ranks since 1991. If you thought the game had passed by Fulmer, its left Gruden looking thru dust. 20 years since he's sat in a room talking with a kid. And that's who they want to lead them?? Might as well take Zook back.

And how about his record. 95-81. whoop wee. Thats .540. A SB win......the first year at TB. After that 7-9, 5-11, 11-5 (yeah), 4-12, 9-7, 9-7. Not impressive.

Take him, Florida. Pleeeeaaaase take him.

You have to remember that these are 17 year old kids that most think that they will play in the NFL. To have a formwe Super Bowl winning coach come and sit on your coach with his ring on would do wonders I believe.

You act as if he has lost the ability to talk or lead since he hasn't recruited a player or coached at the college level since 1991...that is absurd.

I don't know that Gruden's track record agrees with you.

I'll admit he does have an engaging personality, but it takes more than that to win consistently, college or pro.

Out of curiosity, what was Gruden's records at Oakland? My memory says he did well there, but I'm now wondering if it's been skewed by all of the "pro Gruden" talk throughout the past years.

He hasnt coached football since 08

He hasnt been in college football since 1991....20 years.

Yeah, I'd go with losing a step or two in recruiting after 20 years of not doing it. If Fulmer can have it pass by him while he's coaching, then its zoomed by Jon while he's been in the press box.

There's kids on this board that werent even born when he was in the college ranks. And they're supposed to put their potential career in his hands??

38-26 .594 2-2 in playoffs.

Tampa

57-55 .509 3-2 in playoffs. 1 SB ring

You are one of those people who continually make one of the dumbest statements ever.

"The game passed him by". If you think that Fulmer just forgot how to recruit or forgot how to coach, you need to just go to sleep. Same for Gruden, he hasn't coached in two years, big deal.

Football is still football, they aren't using rocket skates or hover boards, it's the same game as when he stopped coaching a few years back.

First of all, bonehead, I never thought the game passed by Phil so get that out of your lobotomized head. That's the "excuse" that's always given for his dismissal.

As for dumb post, you win. If you think a guy that has NEVER been a college head coach and have been out of college coaching for 20 years will waltz in and sweep kids off their feet then you're dumber than you appear.

I realize it's more the exception than the rule, but the name Pete Carroll comes to mind. And he never really had anywhere near Gruden's success in the NFL before taking over at USC.

You said in your post that " if the game can pass Fulmer by when he is coaching". You said that. Bonehead. Remember what you say when you are trying to maintain a flawed argument.

He would kill it in the living room...just what do you think he would do when he was recruiting a kid? Duct tape his mouth shut or go Arian Foster and talk pterdactyl?

If you seriously believe that almost 20 years of NFL experience wouldn't give 17 year old kids ( with aspirations of reaching the NFL ) reason to look his way, you are absolutely nuts.

Also, you think that he wouldn't be able to put together a good staff? He has connections all over the football world.

He would kill it.

What if you heard Fulmer is the new coach at Florida.

I know this will never happen and this is all in fun.

How do you think he would do!

Just heard Cowherd say an acronym for the new Florida coach is "stab". One guy called in and said it stood for Steal Tressel Away and I don't remember what the B was... that wasn't the answer... Anybody have any guesses?

I personally would LOVE to see Fulmer at UF. It would keep him away from our AD's office and we would never have to worry about beating Florida again.

As long as it kept him away from UT I wouldn't care
I think he could do well with the right coordinators

Some-Thing Addazio Back

It means Addazio is coming back. Suck on that Florida!

Once again, Colon Cowterd loves to brag about his 2 sources that he has but can never reveal their names or what they are saying. He knows it all and no one is on his level. Hell I hate the gators and I knew the lb's name was Brandon Spikes not Brandon Stokes. CC Ishtar another idiot with a mic.
