If Mullen doesn't take it, I think Strong would get a good look.

On the list IMO

Gruden: he won't but if he's going to take a college job this would be it
Malzahn
Mullen
Strong
Whittingham: was on the list last year...no reason to think he won't be again
Schiano: Rutgers coach has done some good things
Gary Patterson: dunno if he leaves (I know Boise's coach won't)

Why not Chris Peterson?

In this order:
Mullen
Gruden
Stoops
Peterson

Second picks would be:
Malzahn
Stong
I really think Stoops is a very good possibility

As a UT fan, I would want them to take Malzahn or Strong. Malzahn is unproven as a head coach, and Strong is still an unknown. Guys like Mullen, Peterson, or Patterson are scary.

Purely my gut says Chris Peterson has no interest in leaving. He wants to build the Boise program from teh ground up.

It certainly doesn't seem like he wants to leave but it might be time. He turned down USC but they were also under investigation. After the huge let down against Nevada, it would be hard to turn down Florida and a giant raise. I wouldn't be surprised if he feels like he has taken Boise State as far as they can go at this point. You could be right though.

Mullen is in Florida (ft. lauderdale) right now... I'm headed to the restaurant he is in right now to confirm.

Probably just on a recruiting trip, but, how fortuitous.

I hope they go for Mullen.

Given how they chose Meyer, I could see them going after Peterson.

I think Florida is about to discover what a few big time programs have found out in recent years....finding that home run coach is not easy

doesn't mean a lot

i'm trying to text him frantically if i'm:

one of his assistants
one of his current players
one of his recruits
one of his family members
one of his friends
a reporter of any type
and in the florida athletics department

I think they will. Really, with USC hamstrung, Texas is the only coaching job that's better.

Spurrier. This fits into his egotistical manner. Walk into the program like a king and use Urb's players to his benefit.

He did it in the 90s with Pell's players. He couldnt do it in Was and its taken 8 yrs (or whatever) at SC just to get where he is and that's due to UF,Ga, and Tn being down.

This is a coast to retirement for SOS.

What makes you think Stoops would leave OK? Not arguing but only curious as to why you think he'd consider leaving OK. FL may be a better job than OK but not by much.
