Who would be on your short list?

yeah, the A10 is the mecca of collegebasketball.

who wouldn't want to play charlotte, duquesne and dayton every year.

After the down year the SEC just had (i.e., they stank), I think that if I'm Sean Miller I stick around X, where I can get into the tournament and have proven that I can make runs, and then let better offers come to me.

I would trade Pearl for Miller in a heartbeat.

But Gillispie?!? The guy just got fired for being a weirdo that can't coach or recruit on the big stage.

Actually the BCG thing was a bit of a joke...I really do think that he can coach, but there is no way that we could go after him right now after what KY just did and who they got....well, I guess we could...but that could get ugly. He wouldn't take the job, anyway.

the SEC is hands down a much higher profile league than the A10, even in a down year.

the A10 maybe gets two teams in the tourney. this was the first year in i don't know how many, that the SEC didn't get 5 or 6 in.

to infer that he has a better shot at getting in at Xavier than at TN is just wrong. as for the deep runs, well, that's what we're looking for, right?

this job isn't the most attractive out there, but it's a hell of a lot more attractive than it was 5 years ago.

great arena, we've proven that we can win in this league, that we can consistently get in to the post season, pearl has recruited to TN, you got facilities, fans, money.........

if all we're basing the attractiveness of this job on is tradition, then unless you're UCLA, Duke, UNC, Carolina, Georgetown etc.....then there's a lot of unattractive jobs out there..

You were going strong, then the wheels fell off.

And I will place you in the "clueless basketball minds" group...

Clueless. Good one. Coming from a guy propping up a coach that just got run off for being a loser. And an idiot to boot. I wonder if he still carries that unsigned contract around in his briefcase?

That is absolutely what we want, and why I said that I would like to have him. But, I think that he is close to getting a better job. He would have probably had the Kentucky job this year if his team hadn't pulled a UT in the 2nd half against Pitt.

If he can't coach then how did he turn around 2 terrible basketball programs?

If he could coach he would still be there. If he could recruit they wouldn't have started Michael Porter every game last season.

Did he not coach at UTEP or in a BCS conference at A&M?

He had great recruits coming in. You are totally wrong about the recruiting.

well that's a different story then.

if he were to have to make a decision between which school he would want to go to TN against....whomever, then that's a whole other debate.

but to lure him away from Xavier, i wouldn't see any reason that he wouldn't listen to what we had to offer.

If you guys want to love on Gillispie in spite of facts, that's fine by me.

My original point is he has no business being in any conversation about coaching at UT, ever.

I have decided that these type threads do not benefit either side.

He isn't in the conversation except for a random few.

Fact: He was getting ready to bring in some stud recruits. You are wrong.

And not all the players on the UK roster are guys he recruited...

I don't love BG, but you are wrong about a couple things, especially recruiting.

My point is that I don't think that offer comes this year. By next year, he will most likely have a better offer than UT on the table (assuming his team isn't graduating by then...I honestly don't know). So, I think that he would definitely listen to what we have to say. But, at this point, I think that he would stay at X and wait. Obviously, I don't know that...but I have a feeling he is close to landing a better job.

I will say this though....a few years ago we had to hire a coach from Wisconsin-Milwaukee...the fact that we can at least talk about some of the names that we are now is a testament to what Bruce has done here. He is not among the best coaches in the AA but he has done some good things here...and one of them is making this program more attractive by energizing a fan base and getting money back into the program.

You would fit in real well with the imbeciles running rampant in Lexington...

Another factor in considering Miller (and making the optimistic assumption that he'd even reciprocate UT's interest) is that X extended him through the 2017-2018 season. I don't know what his penalty for breaking that contract would be, but I assume it'd be significant.

Seeing how many of those players Cal wants to keep will tell you everything about that class.

You know what, you're right, and you have proven to be so knowledgeable in so many other areas that I don't know why I would ever argue basketball with you.

I'd like to keep Pearl.

But, I'd be all for replacing Bob Kesling with Duke Tango, the And 1 Tour announcer. "Oh Baby!"
