College Basketball - 100 Greatest Programs :: DAResler.net

wku is 14th all time in wins.

Im not saying WKU is a top 10 all time, or that UT is terrible. but facts are facts. Living in KY i have to argue the fact with Uk and over confident UofL fans the wku is a legit program.

Big effing deal. Miami Ohio has more "all time wins" than Florida in football....does that make it a "better job?"

When was the last time Western Kentucky plucked a head coach from a BCS conference to take over the Hilltopper program?

It's a good mid-major program, with a proud basketball tradition...but it's not a better job than UT.

well bruce pearl did come from UW-Milwaukee, not a BCS school. WKU's last 2 coaches Denis Felton although he was fired did win a SEC tourney title and Darren Horns 1st year he shared the east title. Im not trying to wku is a better job as of now becasue UT has become a main stay in the national media, but overall program with a richer history wku does have that. i love both school so i dont like to compare them. allong as they both can beat UK and UofL im happy as can be.

You are confused. Coaches at places like Western and UWM, if successful, leave and go to places like UT, UGa, and USC. The fact that those coaches used the mid-majors as a stepping stone doesn't do anything to change the fact that they are mid-majors.

I like Western Kentucky. I live in Western Kentucky. But WKU is not a better program than anybody in the SEC. There isn't a single coach in the country who, when faced with a job opportunity at Western or in a BCS conference, wouldn't choose the latter. You aren't going to find too many recruits that will, either. The conference isn't as good, the facilities aren't as good, the teams don't get as much exposure, and it isn't as attractive to coaches or players. Western made a Final Four almost 4 decades ago. That doesn't make it a better program.

all im saying is wku has had more sucess in college basketball with respect to all time wins, and confrence championships than almost any team in the country. thats all im saying. wku's past in mens bball in better than ut's. its that simple. thats all im trying to say. not that wku is a top 10 program.

I'm pretty sure UT's numbers would be far more impressive if they had been playing in a league like the Sun Belt.

1. That isn't what you said. You said that WKU had an "overall better program."

2. Your bolded statement is still wrong. Winning in a mid-major conference does not compare apples-to-apples with winning in a BCS conference. It isn't the same.

winning is winning, no matter how when and where. no one makes a big deal out of the fact that uk has only won 2 of there 7 ncaa titles in a 64 team field. wku has more ncaa tourney wins and 1 final four that ut does not have. i should not be trying to make this argument on here because this is a ut site and i hate people who come on othe teams sites and brag about there team over the host. i apologize for that. i am a graduate (in may) of wku an a life long fan of ut so the point is moot. i guess i just get pissed when wku is not given the credit it deserves in mens basketball.

By that measure, Wesleyan is far and away the top program in the state. Suck it, Cats and Cards!

I'm not sure who has slighted your Toppers. I feel like nationally, and on this board, they get exactly the credit they deserve. They are a good mid-major program.

The Hilltoppers don't have a Final Four. They made one, but the NCAA stripped them of it and put their cheating asses on probation.
