Who would Florida hire if they fire Mullen?

One thing is for sure. Florida knows who they have lined up to replace Mullen. We don't. Not a clue.

Mullen is an “acquired taste”. Not sure Saban & he will mesh.
He might for a period of time, could have a short shelf life. Hell, Saban and Kiffin co-existed for 3 seasons. And Mullen would probably be a better OC than BOB.

I wouldn’t be surprised to learn their coach has already be selected.

I would be surprised if Florida has not already contacted the agent repping their new coach, worked out a deal and all of this well before the Samford boondoggle. This is how the Big Boys act. Word moves fast and this could be the reason that Florida quit on Mullen, they knew he was toast.

That might be what "big boys" try to do but it does not seem to occur that way very often in practice.

People thought ND had the inside track on him and UF was more likely to end up with Bob Stoops. I don't remember it being "telegraphed" at all.
You’re correct. That was the speculation. It was supposed to be Stoops to UF and Urban to Norte Dame.

I think the Gators know who they "want". Who they get may be another matter.

Quite a few big name schools either already open or will be open in about a week.

I question if there are enough "name" coaches to go around this year. Somebody is going to get their second or third choice.

I guess a huge shocker could take place-Ruhle or Meyer leaving the NFL, but I doubt it.

Lincoln Riley already has an LSU offer, but I think his ultimate end game is the NFL. Does he refuse potential college offers and then bolt in the January NFL hiring cycle?

One thing is for sure, starting about this time Saturday, things are going to get REALLY interesting.
