Who's Expectations Have Changed?

I do not see how anyone who watched how much better of a team we are then last year can say that we have zero chance of beating Mizzou.. USCjr.. and OleMiss..and even Florida...

I only see 3 teams that will be able to impose their will on us. On our schedule. The rest are winnable games.. now of course we won't win all 4.. but 2 out of 4 is at least probable, which puts us at 7. Add a Tiny bit of faith and 8 is not an impossibility.

Just sayin... I am sticking to my guns, 8 wins and CBJ should be in the running for COTY

With the first game going into the books in a fashion that could not have been better for the Vols.

Have your expectations for the season changed at all?

I have said 8-4 all along, and for me the answer is NO. This team is performing the way I expected them to. I knew this game would be a blow out and that we would beat them in every aspect of the game.

I still expect 8-4 with losses to Ok, Bama, UGA and either UF or Ole Miss..but we don't lose both.

I'm more confident that we could be as good as 8-4, but only if we can avoid major injuries. Unfortunately, a few key injuries could have us at 6-6 or at 5-7 again.

I hope you are right.

This is my concern also...we can not afford any injuries...

BUT OMG IF WE STAY HEALTHY....I have faith in our players.. they are hungry. Hungry teams are always the ones who surprise people.

My prediction all along has been 7-5. I think 8-4 is possible. What if this team had a magical run and only lost to OU, UGA, and Bammer?

Even as well as our defense played last night. I still think 6-6 with a small possibility of 7-5.

Ask me after week 3. We haven't seen enough of our opponents or our own team, IMO - so for me I'm still expecting 6-7 wins on the season. It's hard to remain grounded after such a great showing but we have a tough road ahead so I'm going to hope for the best but prepare myself for what we've all discussed was the likely outcome of this season.

We are much improved for sure. Our playmakers might provide the difference in a close game.... Injuries will really hurt this year because of our lack of depth.

That was a great game but a far cry from the SEC. I enjoyed watching but did not see anything that would change the original projection of 6 to 7 games. I do feel better about beating the 4 crip teams. Vandy looks weaker but Uk looks stronger. The overall SEC looks much weaker after the 1st week.

6 wins all I ask for. Anything else is a bonus, Christmas present from butch and the gang.

Still on the 6-7 win train. Anxious to see our play once we get into the meat of the schedule. Last night was awesome, but feel offense was still vanilla. Bet the playbook gets opened up much more soon, obviously. Lets hope our O/L improves and Worley starts getting the ball out quicker.

I don't know.

We may not make up the Idaho game

I expect to see a much improved Florida Defense this year, you guys have nothing to worry about.

P.S. No offense intended I hope we wipe the field with you though.

My expectations for this year have changed none, Now I am slightly more hopeful that they will be obtained. 6-6 for this year.

Next year I am much more hopeful for though (another year for the offensive line, and a little more depth, and another year in the system).

This team is still going to struggle in the SEC.

The O line, D line, and QB are still problematic.

I'd say 7 wins at the most with my guess sticking at 5.

Way too early to change predictions after only 1 game, but I haven't felt this good after a game in quite some time!

Speaking of expectations, I don't know if some of you felt the same way, but I got the impression that Hurd was a big dude.

When I first saw him, I didn't think it was him because he didn't look that big.

We are improved, but OL and DL will determine if we can win more than 5 or 6 games. Team speed is much better, but SEC games are won in the trenches.

After last night I can understand the thought about the OL, they were the weakest position group on the field. I can kinda understand the sentiment regarding the DL, even though they exceeded expectations last night, we're still a little smallish and lack the depth we need. However, Worley was outstanding last night. He was our most valuable player last night IMO and I think he's made great strides. I know it's just one game, but why do you think he's still problematic after his performance yesterday?
