My own theory is that they're coming from a place of anger and bitterness. And it just falls flat. Humor can't mask the underlying anger and hatred. The punching down theory also seems to have some plausibility. Gutfeld is a perfect example of how bad conservatives suck at humor.

1: Because they think they are holier than thou.

2: Their fighting style is to bring you down to their level.

3: They are constantly being used and lied to by their leaders from Frumpy to murdoch, all the way down to thier local leaders like mayors and priests. EVERYONE is ALWAYS playing them.

Like, they SAY they are conservative, but then get convinced they want a strong dictator in power ruling over everyone's life by faux news.

It's a poisonous cocktail, and they have lost their faith.

She apparently can’t string two coherent points together without the help of a video editor splicing together every sentence fragment that she utters.

4: You have to be somewhat honest to find the humour.

5: Conservatives have terrible timing. Ever seen 50-60 yr old white people clap?

6: Conservatives ARE the joke.

7: I take it all back, GEORGE W was funny.

I think Tim Allen's shows were funny about his conservatism but that was in large part because he poked fun at everything and didn't use the humor to preach.

Guttfield and those like him are rather obviously disguising their bitterness as humor and the sarcasm effort is just too thinly veiled, especially looking into the camera so smugly.

As I said in another thread about comedy. It's really all about your intent. Like, I can laugh at a good race joke if the intent is good.

Problem too often with those guys is they ain't joking. They mean it. Their intent is to be demeaning and racist. YIKES!

Also, I was telling the truth about George. I love me some George. Just keep him away from a microphone.

Kind of weird a hard left winger complaining about people not being funny. Some of the greatest comedians of all time have been conservatives. Liberals tend to not be funny because they are too scared to hurt feelings.

Not even arguing just genuinely curious - who are they?

This is a really strange thread. I’ll post some pics related thoughts below as to why.

1- Comedy is in the eye of the beholder.

For example, I haven’t found SNL funny for well over a decade. Maybe more. And I think Jim Carrey is horrible actor that ruins just about every movie he touches. Clearly, millions of other people think different.

2- An effective comedian should be able to poke fun at human nature and current events. It should be agnostic as to whose political team might get their feelings hurt. I’ve never seen Gutfeld, but I’m guessing i wouldn’t find his material all that funny if all he does is make fun of Democrats. Hopefully he’s also taking shots at that guy from New York. And MTG.

3- Do Democrats really appreciate good humor? It seems not. Let’s take Chapelle for example. This is a guy who i always assumed was a Democrat. Not that it mattered to me, his comedy is gold. The Chapelle Show was must watch TV. The man was funny and knew how to poke fun at human nature. I don’t recall conservatives trying to shut him up.

Anyway, this is a pretty stupid thread. The only thing that really matters is how Gutfeld’s numbers stack up in that time slot. If the numbers are high enough, he’s funny enough to do what he does. Otherwise, he’ll go the way of Al Franken.

Bob Hope, Rodney Dangerfield, and Tim Allen come to mind. Throw in Jeff Foxworthy as well if you want to.

Also got Dennis Miller, Ron White, Jeff Dunham, etc. I hate Jeff Dunham though.

(Not saying I am huge fans of most of them)

This. Most black comedians aren't right wing but I sure do laugh at them making fun of blacks, and gays, and trannys, etc.
