Because in general, Vol fans don't know enough about the situation to know that that's what was on the table. They think we're just firing Pearl because we won't "forgive" him. They don't know that we're basically doing it at the point of a gun.
Maybe a few, but I would argue that many of us understand that the next 2 years are going to be rough either way. I advocated to keep Bruce until we just couldn't from a PR perspective. It sounds like that's what happened.
A lot of people, smart and dumb, think we should keep him.

I am not sure I can decide, but I don't hate the guy. Certainly what he did wasn't smart, but I can understand why he did what he did.
These threads are a little tiresome, but that's to be expected.

If the NCAA hammered UT basketball to the degree that it was rumored they were going to if we kept him, then it wouldn't be a rough two years, it would be more like 3 or 4. And that's assuming that Pearl could step right back in and not be just a shell of what he was before. There's just no way that Pearl himself is worth it.

UT has to protect the basketball program and the only way to do that was to fire Pearl. It's not like they're doing this for no apparent reason. Why wasn't everyone this upset when the possibility of him being fired was first mentioned last year?
Honestly I think we should save our money and hire a community college coach for 2 years and wait it out to hire a good coach when all the sanctions are gone. In the mean time since we hired a Community College Coach for very little money we should use the rest of the money on a really good half time show. Get like the blue man group, Gary Busey, Charlie Sheen, or the Atlanta Hawks halftime dunk team to come to our basketball games and do the trampoline dunks at half time.
I think this is our only chance of bringing a entertaining product on the court for the next couple of years.
