All right, just say we kept him. Pearl gets suspended for two years, we get a postseason ban, we get major recruiting restrictions and scholarship reductions. Do you think we're keeping our recruits anyway? How do you think recruiting would go over the next three years? What does the program and the roster look like in 2013-2014 when Pearl finally comes back?

Atleast we will have a coach that can win and knows the program when he comes back. Simple! 1-2 years of suffereing is okay with me if coach pearl gets to come back.

That should read Coaches have been mediocre at Tennessee before and they will be again. Just telling it like it is....Everyone wants to think that the basketball program can be high and mighty. That nobody is bigger than the program...Well news flash people Bruce Pearl is The Program! Thats why Chris Jones and Kevin Ware didn't hesitate to ask for their release. When Urban Meyer retired you didn't see anyone jumping ship did you? Thats because Meyer wasn't bigger than the program and those kids wanted to be a Gator regardless of who the coach was. Fact is Tennessee basketball isn't that! We are gonna lose a lot of seniors, Tobias, possibly Scotty, and our incoming class. Haha our roster is gonna look like a joke to coaches! Haha we will probably have a try out for the student body. People have to wake up and realize we are probably going to get a bottom of the barrel hire as the next coach. No respected coach is gonna touch our program for at least 3 or 4 years.

I am all for second chances but not 3rd or 4th. We should have given him a second chance and now we are going to pay for it.

To take that a step further.

Does Bruce stay clean with the AA going forward? If he slips up again can you trust him to come clean with it? Assuming he did will the AA treat every offence as a capital?

Several questions that are hard to answer considering his track record here.

If you think that it's just a case of "1-2 years of suffereing" then you don't know enough about what's going on to have a meaningful opinion. Sorry.

A ton of our fans are incredibly uninformed and ignorant of anything to do with UT Athletics. Some are planning on boycotting games next season as a way of protest. Such winners.

I am not sure I can decide, but I don't hate the guy. Certainly what he did wasn't smart, but I can understand why he did what he did.

These threads are a little tiresome, but that's to be expected.

I will never understand why some would endure 1-2 years of a Pearl suspension and postseason bans to keep him around.

It was time for him to go. But some on here were clearly smoking on some weed if they believed there wouldn't be a backlash. It happens when you fire a popular coach regardless of the logic behind the decision.

There was a backlash when Majors was let go...and he was a lot less popular than Bruce Pearl.

Because in general, Vol fans don't know enough about the situation to know that that's what was on the table. They think we're just firing Pearl because we won't "forgive" him. They don't know that we're basically doing it at the point of a gun.
