to say that some of these kids that were never commitments to us in the first place are not coming to UT because Boyd ,was told to look elsewhere for his own good, are why we are not getting them is reaching my friend.

That's the point, Lane did not see him playing so why sell WR, on a QB that might never see anything past the practice field.

i think everyone likes to win. we just need to be patient. We cannot judge these coaches/ recruiters by this year. If next year we are not in the top 15 then we may have a problem on our hands. We are going to be fine!

if we don't land some lineman next year we are done for. then it is all doom and gloom.

thats what i'm saying, i think alot of the recruits on the offensive side of the ball could see themselves playing with him. i also think he blackballed us alittle to.

As I stated no recruits who committed to CLK has wavered only the recruits from the previous staff. You are entitled to your opinion as is everyone else. I for one have not heard any recruit say I was going to go to UT until the Boyd drama. If anything it may have helped us by sending a message to recruits that we are dedicated in bringing in kids who have a NFL caliber talent that needs to be groomed and no better place to get that grooming then UT.

Getting guys to come in for a visit that did not have us on their radar 6 weeks ago seems huge to me and if we only sway 1 of them to sign it would be a success.

I think going from zero to getting in to some of these guys"top 5" was impressive. Now each recruit can take 5 official visits. And most coaches think if they can get the recruit on campus then they have a chance. CLK told Boyd to look elsewhere and he did. As a rule, there have been very few pocket passers, pro style QB's, as short as Boyd. Kiffin's offense will be pro style, he wants a prototypical QB. Someone like Coleman, going with who we have now. I never realistically expected a top 10 haul this year. This staff will have to cultivate relationships to be successful, that takes time. I also think right now, there are many reason's to believe in the future of UT, but as recruiting goes, there are many pot shots to be taken at our staff until they coach a game together. (too many HC's) After next year, which i believe will be better than last, there will be game film to show what we will do on the field and on the continuity of our staff.

Thanks vols461 it was given to me by a former team of folks that I use to be the boss of 14 yrs ago. Kinda stuck with me ever since

If we have a winning season next year and maybe upset a big name team FL, Alabama,Georgia than next year we finish top 5 for sure. We have way too much talent on that coaching staff not to bring in the players next year this year was just a little too late. I think if kiffin had everyone ready to go when they made him HC and he filled those spots that week we would have landed a few more of these top athletes but since our staff came together about 3 weeks ago it was a little late.

your post just solidified mine. look at it again 2010. This year is 2009. so yes next year, 2010, we will have a top 5 class. :crazy:
