Why did MTSU get a bid?

I'm assuming you mean Gonzaga and yes.

No, i mean Tennessee did, thats not tournament worthy. St Mary's and Tennessee both only beat 2 other teams in the tournament, but you're right about St Mary's getting swept by Gonzaga

False. UT beat Wichita state, Missouri and Florida.

not what he said...he said our win streak was.not impressive....the only true impressive win was florida...and yes i know we beat miss but they sucked on the road kind of like us

No, he said that they had a lot of respect for the improvement that UT showed down the stretch, but during that time they didn't beat a lot of very powerful teams and they struggled to win on the road. It essentially came down to that he said. He also said that the sweep by Ole Miss was a factor. He didn't mention any teams that UT beat. He just said that UT didn't beat a lot of very powerful teams.

First off, he's talking out of his ass. Fla and Mizzou are pretty stout or he gave them seeds into the tourney for the hell of it. Second, Ole Miss was a pretty good team too. I would've felt better if he said that UT shouldn't have gotten swept by UGA, not Ole Miss. Ole Miss made the tourney. UGA did not. Third, the committee that he was over gave a team a bid with only 1 top 100 RPI win for the first time in the history of the NCAA tourney. That fortunate team was MTSU. They looked like total sh*t tonight. Meanwhile, UT had 9 Top 100 RPI wins. Great job Mike Bobinski ya moron.

I'd quit after that last post too.

Ok, so St. Mary's lost to Pacific, GT, Gonzaga x's 3, and Northern Iowa, they beat Creighton, Pacific, and Harvard (3 tournament teams, not 2 as i previously stated).

Who did Tennessee lose to?

Also, i hate SMC, they are my teams hated rival, and i pull for Tennessee, but Tennessee didn't deserve to be in it, get over it

Tennessee's bad losses were considered @Georgia and Georgia(in which we played without our starting PG).

In no way were the two resumes mentioned in this thread better than Tennessee's. I moved on after Sunday night. Just responding to stupid posts.

UT beat 3 tourney teams in Fla, Mizzou and Wichita St. Their bad losses were the sweep to UGA. Everyone else was under 100 in the RPI. They also had 9 Top 100 RPI wins. Or more than MTSU and St. Mary's combined.

St. Mary's beat only one team really worth a damn in Creighton. Pacific had a RPI of 97 and Harvard had a RPI of 93. St. Mary's also had a SOS of 96 and an OOC SOS of 112. MTSU's SOS was 112. Their OOC SOS was good at 9, but their overall SOS sucked at 112.

UT had a SOS of 58 and an OOC SOS of 44.

If St. Mary's and MTSU made it in, UT should've made it in. They played a much tougher schedule and beat a helluva lot better teams by far.

I agree 100% that UT played a harder schedule, but St. Mary's finished the season 19-3, those 3 being Gonzaga. When Tennessee had to beat Georgia, they didn't. They had to beat Bama, they played a terrible game. The Florida game was a great win for Tennessee, but the other 10 losses hurt them.

St. Mary's will lose to Memphis anyways just like Tennessee did, neither one should be in it. Hopefully they will win the NIT.

It's fine to believe we shouldn't have been in it, but anyone who thinks we wouldn't have put up a better fight against St. Mary's than MTSU did is fooling himself.

I thought we had the better resume and I thought we should have been in, but if you throw all that aside, MTSU showed tonight IMO that they were in over their heads the whole time.

There's a reason they only beat 1 good team. We saw it tonight. They didn't deserve a bid. That's my interpretation.

They finished the season 19-3 because they only played a few legitimate teams in those 22 games. They played Gonzaga twice and lost both, beat Creighton and beat BYU and Harvard. Every other game was to a triple digit RPI team. That's an atrocious schedule. Hell, it's not hard to go 19-3 when you're playing a bunch of garbage teams. The committee chairman might as well had said the same thing about St. Mary's that he said about UT. They didn't beat very many powerful teams and didn't win on the road against any team worth a damn.

The fact that the committee took in a team with 1 Top 100 RPI win and another with 5 Top 100 RPI wins is a joke. UT, Maryland and Virginia should've all been in before those two teams. The committee just wanted to get cute and put in a bunch of mid-major jackwads who hadn't played anyone.

They played Gonzaga 3 times, not 2. Doesn't matter, just letting you know. And i wish Tennessee had gotten in instead of St Mary's and MTSU but they didn't. They have a better chance at winning the NIT than beating Memphis or whoever they would play in the first round. Go Vols!

Basically, MTSU was a travesty and it was proven tonight. There is no logical argument for selecting them over UT.

And they lost every single time. Their best win was against Creighton at home. They didn't beat anyone of note on the road. BYU was their best win on the road. Their SOS is 96 for a reason. It sucked balls.

Although I hope UT does win the NIT, I'd rather lose in the first round of the NCAA tourney than win the NIT. It's strictly a cash grab and no one gives a damn except for the team's fans and I don't think they even care that much.

You forgot to mention that two of the Gaels' three tourney wins were over 14th-seeded Harvard and 15th-seeded Pacific.

Probably would have got in over MTSU except there is one small problem - MTSU beat them last year in the NIT. In Knoxville. Ask Auburn's football team what happens when you can't seal the deal against a team that eventually makes it to the Big Show (Southern Cal getting the nod to play OU). And, beating Ole Miss put them over the edge, too. Did they deserve it? No - they embarrassed themselves on TV last night. Did UT deserve it? No - Maryland or UVa (who beat UT) should have been there instead.

Quit crying about UT not getting in. They would have lost last night, too. A team that has no PG and can't shoot has no business being in the Big Dance. Having said that, once UT trades McBrick and Little Kenny for studs Hubbs and Maymon - THEN we can talk. UT is going next year - make no mistake about it. But until then, we need to just quit whining and get ready for spring football.
